Yoga is an amazing practice. It cultivates mindfulness, focus and peace. Over the last few years, the yoga movement has grown exponentially in popularity. While yoga is this noble, soulful practice, that doesn't mean that our minds don't wander when we're on our mats. Here are 12 thoughts that every yogi has during their yoga practice.

1. "Probably shouldn't have eaten that."

Since a large portion of yoga poses are inverted, it's best to do on a fairly empty stomach.

2. "I am absolutely doing the modification."

Teacher: "You can either remain in Warrior II or transition over into advanced bird of paradise."

You: "I'm gonna sit this one out."

3. "How is this so hard?"

It looks so delicate, yet it burns every muscle in your body.

4. "Downward dog is NOT a resting position."

Sometimes the teacher invites you to rest in downward dog. It's not a resting position if your shoulders are burning.

5. "Thank goodness, child's pose."

One of the most relaxing poses. Caution though: once you're in that pose, you won't want to come out.

6. "What is that noise?"

There's always at least one person who alerts everyone to their breathing patterns with their impressively loud inhales and exhales.

7. "I'm about to slip right off this mat."

The sweat gets real.

8. "How many more sun salutations?"

"Exhale. Inhale. Half-way lift. Exhale. Rise up..." Sometimes the rhythm is nice, other times you just want to shake it up.

9. "I probably should have grabbed a block."

Some days your hammies are flexible, some days... not so much.

10. "Wow, that person is amazing."

As much as you're supposed to keep an internal focus, it's so hard not to gawk at some people's strength and flexibility.

11. "I can't wait to eat after this."

Even yogis have to fuel their bodies.

12. "FINALLY. Savasana."

Nothing to excite a yogi more than corpse pose.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
