.

1. Do not be so hard on yourself.

This is harder said than done, but it is important to not be so critical on yourself. You should be your biggest fan. Understand that as a human being, everything you do will not be perfect.

2. Do not overlook your mental health.

If you are not feeling yourself, take time to evaluate how you are feeling. Focusing in on your mental status is so important. Try to set time for yourself to reflect and have "you" time for self-care.

3. Do not be afraid to say "NO."

If you are a people pleaser, this could be a hard task. Saying no to a favor your friend asks of you can be hard, but if you are tired or mentally incapable, it is okay to say "no." If your friend is a true friend, they will understand.

4. Remember to drink water.

This one can get hard when you're on campus all day, especially when the opportunity to eat doesn't even present itself. Try to keep a refillable water bottle on you and drink up!

5. Sometimes that piece of cake is worth it.

This ties in to not being so hard on yourself. Sometimes that piece of cake is worth it. It has been a long day and you are craving chocolate, so reward yourself - you deserve it.

6. Not everyone is going to like you and that is okay.

It sucks that you cannot please everyone, but it is natural for personalities to clash and for someone to not be fond of you. It is okay. Just remember that there are people who care about you and love you for who you are. Those are the people who are important.

7. Sometimes the biggest accomplishment might be getting out of bed.

Bad days happen. But if you get out of bed and conquer even that one hurdle, that is a huge accomplishment.

8. Do not conform for others.

Always, always, always be yourself. Your true friends will accept you for you. You should never change who you are for anyone else.

9. Your opinions matter, too.

Everyone is entitled to have their own opinion. You do not have to agree with what someone else believes and no one has to agree with you, but you have to be strong, believe in yourself, and stand for your own personal beliefs.

10. You are you, and you are amazing!

Everyone is amazing in their own little ways, but most of us refuse to see that in ourself. Remember to give yourself the credit you deserve!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
