“I’ll start Monday,” “Tomorrow,” “It’s my New Year’s resolution..." Have you said something like this in the past few weeks? Well, what are you waiting for? It’s time to kick your bad habits right now! It’s time to start fresh. Some common New Year’s resolutions are focused on getting healthy but this doesn’t have to be your only goal. Your goal should really be to make improvements in your lifestyle. Here are three easy fixes to change your daily routine that will make you a better you today!
1. Stop cursing.
All right, maybe using the “f” word was cool in high school, but as college students and/or adults, it’s not cool. It’s trashy. I hate to sound like your grandma who smacked you over the head every time you accidentally let one slip, but it is the God’s honest truth. These words are truly filthy and make you sound unintelligent. Make a commitment to control your choice of words, that way curse words are no longer part of your everyday vocabulary. You won’t need to be cautious at a family event or work function. You’ll convey your thoughts and feelings effectively and intelligently. What better way to get your point across?
2. Be more productive.
I am sure I am not the only one who spent the past few months skipping the gym, eating ice cream, avoiding homework, and watching Netflix. I’m glad you enjoyed yourself, but now it is time to actually get your life together. Find an isolated cozy spot to get your work done and then do it. A new work place has the potential to make you more productive so it’s time to cut out the distractions! With this newfound time, you can head to the gym, go for a run, give back to the community, get a job, or find something to keep your day moving on a productive schedule. Stop being a lazy bum and make your momma proud! (Believe it or not this will prepare you to be a real adult!)
3. Drink more water.
Give up the added calories. Give up the caffeine. As a matter of fact, it’s time to give up the sugary drinks entirely. Believe it or not, it’s an easy fix. Simply replace your morning coffee and afternoon can of soda for a cold glass of water. You might argue that water is boring, but it doesn’t have to be. Try adding some fruit, like lemons or an herb, like fresh mint. There are hundreds of recipes all over the Internet that are both delicious and nutritious. Start by replacing one drink per day, and work your way to hydrating yourself the healthy way!
It’s simple. Promise yourself that you’ll cut the curse words, commit to productivity, and make a minor change in your diet. These quick fixes may even jumpstart a resolution you came up with on your own. Either way, you shouldn’t have to wait until the ball drops to do these things. Promise yourself you will stay faithful to these changes. These aren’t things that you’ll want to quit after a few weeks into January. They’re easy and necessary! So, get moving… And share this article to inspire someone else!
