The World Isn't Really Ending Over This Election

But let's keep the judgment to a minimum, maybe?

The World Isn't Really Ending Over This Election

Hi America, this is life... surprise, surprise! We woke up today to another day... but the majority of you are pissed off and wasting it away calling people out because the name announced at 2:30 a.m. was not the one you wanted.

I get that this election was crazy. I wholeheartedly believe it was pretty insane myself. But come on... it's over. Donald Trump won and Hillary Clinton lost. What is complaining, whining and calling out Trump voters for being "racist, homophobic rapists" going to do? It's not going to change numbers. It's not going to change our beliefs. It's not going to change the fact that America looks better in red.

Yes, I voted for Donald Trump (no surprise). I will say that, loud and proud. I want America to be great again, and I did not think that Clinton could do that. I honestly think it would have made America worse (sorry, not sorry). But these are my personal beliefs. All I ask is that you respect me and I promise to respect you. But I can't help but get pissed off when I log into any social media and I feel generalized into that "racist, homophobic, bigot, child-rapist supporter" group. I can tell you that I am absolutely none of these names you have called us, and neither are any of my friends or family who voted for Trump.

Liberals, I have a question... You are all about supporting and loving everyone, am I right? Then why do I see these posts? Why do I see people calling out my friend and telling her she is "part of the problem" just because she doesn't agree with them? Why do I personally feel offended reading the comments against Trump voters? Why was I called a "f***** retard" for writing about Clinton? Why was my death wished for by someone who did not agree with me? Don't believe someone said this to me? Check it out...

This comment was left on an old article I wrote about my reasoning behind not voting for Clinton. Thank you, sir, I appreciate your kind words.

There is one post after this election, however, that makes me cringe and makes me want to throw my computer out the window:

"Have fun explaining to your Muslim, female, black, Latino/a, and LGBT friends that their human rights didn't matter in this election."

EXCUSE ME? Okay, let me start off by saying that I am partially Latina... my mother is Venezuelan. And I don't think her human rights matter? You honestly believe that I do not respect the human rights of my own mother? You have got to be kidding me if you honestly go about posting this... I have friends of each type in that post... black, Muslim, LGBT, all of it. And you have the nerve to tell me that their human rights do not matter to me? That is what matters to me the most, and that is why I voted the way I did.

Not once has any Republican or Conservative said that someone's human rights do not matter. That post is absolutely ridiculous. Oh yeah, I am a female also... so according to that, I don't respect my own human rights. I can't even put the ignorance of this post into words.

Yeah, these next four years are going to be very interesting. But that is no reason for name-calling, arguments or bashing on social media. Please, find something better to do with your life. Let's move on and make the best of what we have. We are the United States... "one nation, under God." Let's not forget who the real leader is.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
