At one point in time, the idea of living alone terrified the heck out of me. Actually, it still sometimes does even though I currently live alone.

However, so many girls these days go from living at home to living with roommates in a dorm room to living with roommates in an apartment to living with a significant other. While being around people who you love is fantabulous, living alone once in your life is an uber great experience.

1. You learn that being alone does not need to mean lonely.

Just because you are living alone does not mean you do not need to feel lonely. You have your support system at the touch of a button or even just a car ride away. Do not isolate yourself. But, at the same time, do not overextend yourself.

2. You get the entire refrigerator, freezer, and cabinet space to yourself.

No more dividing up space into four separate quadrants. Now, you can spread out as much as you want and eat anything you want.

3. You can do your gross or obnoxious things without getting judged.

Feeling a bat in the cave? Pick that baby out. Drop your cookie on the floor? Heck, of course, the five-second-rule applies. Forgot your towel in the drier? Walk out there naked to grab it. Want to call your mom seven times a day? Talk as loud as you want.

4. You physically cannot have a lot of people over.

Is your whole friend group having a game night? Well, you cannot fit fifteen people into your little studio... Guess someone else will just need to host. Darn.

5. You learn to understand yourself better.

You have so much alone time by yourself, you finally get to find out what *you* want to do in your free time, whether that be going to the gym, learning how to bake, journaling, or even a new podcast.

6. You learn to appreciate silence.

Living at home and living with roommates, there is always noise because of the hustle-and-bustle of life. So, when you are living alone for the first time, the silence feels daunting at first. However, once you learn to live with the silence, you learn to appreciate it. You learn that maybe silence is not all so bad.

7. You learn to appreciate people more.

When you are alone for most of the hours of the day, you learn to appreciate the time spent with your loved ones a lot more. You appreciate the love and the quality time.

8. You learn to put yourself first sometimes.

You can watch whatever movie you want to watch, eat whatever you want to eat for dinner, put the toilet paper roll in the direction you want to put it in, do a face mask if you want to do a face mask. Self-love is so important.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
