Well…. You never know the sweet bliss of adulthood until you have to live all alone for school. My initial thought was it will be horrible but I will suck it up and every time my parents call, I will say it’s fine. I am fine. I am loving the living alone life. But after a few days of being alone, I realized all the benefits of living alone and honestly, I’m loving it completely.

1. No one is waiting to use the tub after you.

2. You can decorate your whole place how you want.

3. There’s no yelling for knock before you open.

4. You never have to label your things or threaten people to not eat it.

5. There's no judgment for staying in your PJs all day to do work.

6. You don’t have to take out anyone else’s garbage.

7. You can cook a large meal and have left overs for a week.

8. The clean up is small.

9. No distractions when you need to get things done.

10. No bad habits to annoy you.

11. You can walk around naked and have no one to judge you.

12. You don’t have to worry about anyone taking your things.

13. You can use up all the hot water.

14. Never have to worry about someone drinking your creamer or coffee.

15. You can always find your things where you left them.

16. You don’t have to explain why you need quiet time

17. You don’t have to worry about picking up after someone else.

18. You can drink straight out the bottle.

19. No one to judge you for starting happy hour early.

20. You have unlimited privacy.

21. You don’t have to worry about entertaining someone else’s guest.

23. You learn how to take care of yourself.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
