Women Are Powerful

This past week has been truly inspirational and powerful for women everywhere. The turnout for the national women's march was overwhelming and the overall message was very impressive. I feel like now is the best time to be a woman because everyone is stepping up and fighting for a cause.

As a young woman, I find that I look up to women who live positive, kind, and supportive lives. These women have been inspiring me lately and they should inspire you as well, they live everyday to the best of their ability while contributing hope and love in world that's not always kind.

1. Marissa Lace

Marissa Lace is a YouTuber and entrepreneur who really went through a transformation in 2016. Being a fan of hers for a few years, I watched her go through her "Year of You" and come out on the other side completely reborn. After experiencing heartbreak and personal problems, she focused on self-love and happiness. She found herself after a lifetime of struggling with numerous things and shows everyone that it's completely possible to reinvent yourself to become the person you've always wanted to be!

She now has her own crystal shop and puts up self-love YouTube videos, all while spreading positivity and happiness through all social media platforms. PLUS her dogs are adorable, so she's definitely worth the follow.

2. Emma Watson

We all know Emma Watson from the best-selling movie, Harry Potter and I'm pretty she's everything every woman aspires to be. She's an educated woman, who advocates for women's rights, all while being extremely successful in every movie she's been in. Her activism and passion for natural civil rights and equality are truly inspiring, as well as her love of education and powerful nature. Overall, she's genuinely a great person. Not to mention she took part in the national women's march.

3. Iskra Lawrence

In today's day and age, it's really hard to find someone who is always body-positive and a beautiful person inside and out. Iskra Lawrence is the face of Aerie's Real campaign and she continues to inspire women everyday to accept their bodies. Although she's gorgeous herself, she'll never shame anyone for looking or feeling the way they do. She accepts women and men in their natural state, and she supports them. She's an inspiration who needs to be noticed by all women.

4. Halsey

We all know Halsey from the hit song "Closer," but something that not everyone knows about her, is that she is a beacon of acceptance and female power. She is biracial woman in the LGBTQIA community, and although she does not believe in labels, she has been vocal in every community she's apart of. She believes in women's rights and will proudly voice them on all social media, as well as put anyone who challenges her on blast. She lives a life of positivity and is a role model for women who think they belong to a certain because of societal pressure. She argues that everyone is beautifully and flawlessly themselves. Also, her music is pretty amazing.

These women are truly amazing. They're modern, vocal, and passionate about women's rights and human equality. They fight and stand for equal treatment, in order to make this world a better place.

The most important thing to realize about these women is that they are public figures, but just like everyday women, they have something to fight for. We have to fight for our future daughters, our sisters, and our mothers. We will always have a fight, but I think that 2017 is the year that we all stand up for long-overdue equality.

We are all inspirations and this list is just a small glance into a movement that has been extremely powerful.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
