Our sin is the destruction of our society. Our sin is what ties our soul to evil. It is the very essence of our being before we are believers. We are evil.
Before our salvation, we are in constant rebellion against God and His laws. There is no hope for those who run from salvation to their sin. The horrors of this world are all the by-product of sin, and a lot of us fail to accept responsibility for our part in the corruption of this world.
Millions either ask or wonder, "What is wrong with this world?" and rarely do they answer that question with "Us." We are what's wrong with this world. We are hosts of sin. Sin is like a parasite, it needs a host to harbor itself in so it can survive.
Why is there no sin in Heaven? Because all who are there have no sin in them.
Why did sin enter the Garden of Eden? Because of us.
People always ask, "What God would allow this? What God would allow evil people to live on this earth?" People ask that and either ignore or refuse the true answer to that. The true way to rid evil from Earth is that God would have to eradicate every single living being.
Sin resides within us. There is no one person or persons whom we can kill and be rid of evil forever. The problem is within us. The potential of the darkness in a man's heart is unlimited. Because of that darkness, we deserve to be in Hell. There's no getting around that.
Think of every single evil thought you've ever had. Think of how much of a struggle it is to be good every single second of your life. It is truly impossible, because though we may like good, naturally we love evil, and that is why we need a savior. Thankfully we have one, and His name is Jesus Christ.
Jesus saved us from the penalty of our sins. He took every single sin that we would ever commit when He went on to that cross. The reason why is so profound. Jesus did this because He loves us. Think of the greatest act of love you've done for someone and compare it to what Christ did. There is no comparison.
Naturally, our human hearts reject Christ. It was our sin that killed Jesus, but in that, he still loved and loves us.
This is a reality that I've struggled with understanding. God's love for us. That is something that we could never truly fathom, because it goes against every single desire in our hearts.
Jesus was tortured, mocked, spat on. He died by the worst means of death in history. Yet while He was on that cross, some of the last words He said were, "Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do." Those words stick in my mind.
Think about being tortured. Think about going through half of the suffering, not even all, just half of the suffering that Jesus went through. Now think if you could still turn to God and ask him to have mercy on your torturers. To forgive them.
The reality is, God loves us. Ever since the beginning, in the midst of our rebellion, God loved us and had a plan so that one day, we could be reunited with him.
So don't ever feel like you aren't loved. Though our hearts are dark and our nature is to sin, God loves us. The blood of His Son washes away our sin and we are made whole again. The only question is, do we love Him?
