Why An Oil Diffuser is Essential For Your Well-Being
Julia Schroeder

Fragranced mist seeps out of my essential oil diffuser, sitting on the other side of the room. I watch the slow evolution of the tear-drop shaped light, changing from blue to green to orange and every color in between. It is relaxing to watch, not to mention the health benefits from vaporized plant matter being absorbed into the body’s bloodstream.

A blend of lavender, eucalyptus, lemongrass and others floats around the room, tickling my nostrils and soothing into my pores. I leave it chugging for a while.

I was gifted an oil diffuser recently. Using it every day since getting it, I already feel revitalized and appreciate the cramped space of my apartment much more. Rather than feeling overwhelmed by my slanted floors and ceilings and lack of storage space, I can sit and unwind after a long day. I also feel uplifted, my energy and self-esteem boosted.

With the beginning of the semester, I began to have a cough and cold. Usually, when I have a cold it is not enjoyable and lasts for longer than I wish. This sickness has lasted for a laughable amount of time, despite a lingering tickle in my throat. I lend belief to healing quickly due to, in part, my oil diffuser. I have not felt so uplifted for this long of a time in a while.

Diffusers spread oil molecules throughout the air that get absorbed into the body through the respiratory system. Essential oils are concentrated liquid with aroma compounds derived from plants. The aroma can cause the nervous system to send signals to the limbic system, which is the memory and emotional control center of the brain.

Numerous health benefits can occur from using essential oils, including improved cognitive functions, mental clarity and enhanced physical well-being. My essential oil diffuser helps get me going by creating a calm atmosphere.

They have been used medicinally throughout history, as early as the 12th century, but are used more recently due to aromatherapy rising in popularity. Essential oils enhance our existence and improve quality of life. It fights off sicknesses, since many oils are anti-microbial. This means that whenever the oil invades the air in vapor form, the organic compounds mingle with airborne pathogens before they plague the body.

Some diffusers also work as humidifiers which keep airways in the body healthy and clear. Oil diffusers can reduce inflammation and congestion, which makes it easier to breath.

It has adaptogenic qualities, which mean it soothes nerves or boosts spirits, depending on what you need. Several types of oils are known for the ability to balance hormones, with regular use.

If you wonder, where can I find an oil diffuser? A variety of brands of diffusers and essential oils can easily be found online if searched on Google or Amazon. What I use, and recommend is the Seneo Ultrasonic Humidifier. It has low-energy consumption with reliable and smooth performance, also housing a low price.

Oil diffusers are a safe alternative to candles and incense, and has a better effect on your health. An oil diffuser is essential to have because it clears the air, creates a pleasant environment and soothes the soul.

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
