It seems as though there is always a percentage of the population that simply does not care to exercise their rights as Americans by casting their vote in the presidential election. I've never quite understood why one would opt out of such a great opportunity that is given to us, but I especially do not understand this year.
Here's how the public boils down:
- You either love Hillary, or you hate her.
- You either love Trump, or you hate him.
- You’re a Johnson supporter.
- You’re a bitter Bernie fan
- You claim to be neutral.
Those of you that are mad about the Bernie/Hillary issue and are choosing to not participate are not accomplishing anything because to be really honest, no one cares that you’re bitter. Bernie doesn’t even care that you’re upset over the whole deal, so get real and stop thinking that your choice to silently protest is actually doing any good.
Those of you that support Johnson, well good for you - at least your support lies somewhere. However, let's be real for a second and actually realize that either Trump or Hillary will be the next president. It doesn’t take a genius to realize that, just add the numbers up. Not to mention, Johnson is just a touch late to the game and while he does seem to have a prominent following base, it just doesn’t hold a light even remotely close to that of Trump or Hillary, who have been building their base for quite some time now.
If you claim to be “neutral” for whatever reason, fine. A common claim among this group is that they do not want to be a part of this history; I guess that I can understand that if that is the way that you chose to believe. However, my problem with this group is that you think that you should still voice your opinion…
My point in this post isn’t to sway anyone’s political standing- I’m not going to sway from mine, so I most certainly do not expect you to change yours just because of a post. My point is, however, to enlighten those of you that are not planning to vote, that you are only hurting this nation and yourself more.
This generation that is currently thriving – the millennial one, you know- is one of the most outspoken, stand up for what you believe in, scream from the rooftops and make a scene generations to ever be… yet, a safe 50 percent of them won't be casting their votes come November. Why? If this country is so bad and you are so oppressed and Hillary is so awesome, then why aren’t you voting for her?
At this point, my take on the presidential election is clear and come November I will be casting my vote for Trump - since, in my opinion, he is the lesser of two evils. I quite honestly don’t care about your political party preference – I mean, I do but I care more that people actually cast a vote over who they actually vote for because you simply can not bitch if you are not willing to participate and do your part as an American citizen.
