Why I Vlog

I'm starting something new, and here's why...

Why I Vlog
Gianna Beasley

As I launch my YouTube channel this week, a question I've gotten from a lot of people is: why are you vlogging? Well the answer is pretty simple... I'm vlogging for myself.

I strongly believe that everyone is put on this earth because we all have something different to say. Some people go through horrific things in life but then are given the opportunity to take that experience and help others. Other people take their family, job, or school experiences and use those to help other people. I believe that there is merit to what I have to say and there's nothing more that I enjoy than helping other people so if my vlogs can help or inspire even one person, that's more than enough for me.

Outside of vlogging with the hopes of helping or inspiring others, I'm using it as a tool to document my life and my progress. Whether that be vlogs of my travels or vlogs of my fitness journey.

When I first started talking about starting my own YouTube channel and vlogging my life, there was a lot of criticism and not a lot of support. People would say to me "why would you do that? You don't have thousands of followers." Well I don't care about the followers! Sure, I would like to reach as many people as possible with my vlogs but at the same time I'm not going to obsess over the number of people who subscribe to my channel or watch my vlogs. If people want to watch them, great! If people don't care or want to watch, that's their choice! All I know is I'm excited to share my passions and life with those who want to see it.

So without boring you for too much longer... basically what I'm saying here is that I'm vlogging now with the hopes of sharing my unique experiences in hopes that you can enjoy them and learn from them too. Everyday holds new adventures and opportunities and my goal is to be as transparent as possible with everything that I go through! My journey of vlogging is just beginning and I can't wait to see where it will take me in the future. There will be highs and there will be lows, but everyday and every obstacle that's thrown my way will make me a better and stronger person!

If you feel so inclined to start this journey with me and keep up with my travels and fitness adventures, follow me on social media (@giannabeas) and subscribe to my Youtube channel to make sure you don't miss a video! My YouTube channel can be found here. I hope you all join me on this journey and enjoy my sometimes awkward and usually clumsy self! Let me know if you're joining me on my journey!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
