We almost spend more time at work than at home, so having a relationship with our co-workers is crucial. The bad days, the good days and the ones all in between. I am thankful for my girls, and I do need their support when I am there. Here are the prime reasons why our co-workers are so crucial in our lives.

1. There is no hiding from them.

Either you are stressed out, extremely upset or just need to vent, you have them. They are there and offer you support to listen and encourage you on the good traits you carry. Or, if you are happy, they also know that. And they love to hear the good news, too!

2. You spend 8-10 hours A DAY with them.

As workers, we spend more time there than with our friends or family. So who wants to be miserable all day at work for 8-10 hours next to someone who they have issues with? No one! It is crucial to always respect your co-workers. You may not always like them, but you do have to be professional with them. Spend that shift rocking it, girl.

3. They know every little detail, literally.

Our co-workers are the easiest one to tell the juicy gossip too. Boy problems? They're all ears. Family fight? Same. Broke? They get it. Your co-workers are easy to open up to because we spend over 40 hours a week with them, but make sure you fully trust someone before exposing all of your secrets! It is easy to open up, but hard to take words back once they are said!

4. They are our biggest hype girls.

I feel down about myself a lot at work, and so do the other women. But do not doubt, we lift each other up and make ourselves feel better! Women support women, there is no ifs or buts! Thank you to all my girls at work that make me feel beautiful when I am sweaty, irritated and running around!

5. They have seen our every mood.

Mad, sad, angry, depressed, happy, hungry, or whatever the case may be- they have seen it, and they still deal with you, willingly… lol. After all the moods I have seen each of my co workers in, there is never any judgement. We have each others backs and still make each other feel better throughout the day. And if you ever need to cry, they are there for a helping hand.

6. We understand each other.

There is no better person to expect to understand your work stress rather than your co-workers. The blood, sweat and tears that we all go through together. She's got my back, I got hers. We are a team and will always be sympathetic to other stressors at work, because we have been there and done that, too.

7. They become true friends.

This is not for everyone, but I have to say some of the girls I have worked with over the years have truly become my best friends. I see them and hangout with them outside of work and can trust them with whatever. Thank you to all the coworkers I've had over the years that are now my true friends! I love you!

Lastly, one thing I love is the age difference at my place of work, too. The wisdom and advice I have received has helped me drastically over the years with life lessons and struggles. Although coworkers do butt heads, they still have our back, and I have theirs, too.

I love you, girls!

Love Always, Mel.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
