Why 'Not Voting In Election 2016' Is A Terrible Idea

The freedom to choose to vote in America is one of the great things about it, but this next election is too detrimental not to do so.

Why 'Not Voting In Election 2016' Is A Terrible Idea

As everyone probably knows, neither one of these upcoming presidential election candidates are ideal. Many people out there, along with myself, believe they are far from it. One of them is under criminal investigation by the nation's federal law enforcement agency and the other is too blunt and offensive in 2016 (shocker). So, it is understandable why so many are reluctant to choose between these two evils. Many may even begin to think “why vote at all?”

I am writing this to change this mentality that far too many contain right now.

So, one thinks they are going to make a point to the government by not voting at all? Neither of the candidates are worthy and it's a shame these are our options, right? Influence for reform, maybe? While these questions are somewhat true, I want to state the fact that one will hurt this country more than ameliorating it like one may think they are by not voting.

By not voting, you are leaving it up everyone else.

Both Trump and Clinton have their cons, but as a United States citizen that will reap the repercussions of this huge election, please take time to decide between the lesser of the two evils.

This election will influence the fate of our future children and generations. This next president will have the chance to nominate several Supreme Court Justices; this is important because these are the people that impact nation wide laws on issues like abortion, immigration, voting rights and contraceptive mandate. So sitting out to make some point is irrelevant, everyone knows the candidates suck.

Look at their policies, principles, and even the views of their party if that’s what it comes down to for you to help make your decision. Some are even deciding who to vote for by choosing who they do not want as president and voting for the other. Anything to help you decide is better than the huge mistake of sitting out of this presidential election.

Also, about 54 percent of the voting population already don't vote, so the only thing you would be proving to the government is that citizens do not care and why the public shouldn’t be involved in the first place. Therefore, damaging our democracy.

You don't have to vote in America, which is one of the great things about America: the freedom to choose. But at one point in history, women and men were denied the right to vote based on their gender or race and would have killed for this freedom and opportunity. There are still countries today that don't offer this freedom. Exercise the right to vote. This election is to detrimental not to do so.

If not, please do not complain following this November 2016 Election.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
