Playing three sports all four years of high school, it was my entire life. Every day, it was either workouts, practices or games. Almost never did I have a day off throughout all of those years. People told me I was crazy for doing that, but honestly, if I could go back to high school, I would do it all over again. All I knew growing up was sports. Playing three sports kept me busy and in shape. From being a three-sport student-athlete to then going to college just as a student was a difficult process knowing that I didn't have any workouts, practices or games after my classes. These are the things I miss:
1. Being part of a team
Being part of a team and having a second family was the best feeling ever. Having girls that you spend every day with for the season creates a bond with each and every teammate. From the time I was a freshman, I knew that when I got older I had to set a great example to the younger girls coming in like the older girls did for us. Being part of a team and having so many great memories (and some not so great memories) is something I will always cherish.
2. That feeling you get after a HUGE win
That amazing feeling you get after a BIG win! Hearing the crowd go crazy and finding your closest teammate and jumping on them!
3. Being in great shape
Playing three sports all four years and taking CrossFit as a class had me in the best shape ever for my senior year. I miss pushing myself and knowing that it would make me stronger on game days. I miss seeing some of the muscles I used to have.
4. Staying in hotels for tournaments
Of course, the best part about tournaments is staying in a hotel with your teammates! I mean we would go swimming, stay up late and annoy all the other people who were staying in that hotel for the weekend.
5. That feeling you get after making an amazing play
This picture shows the best play I have ever made in my high school softball career! I love playing in the outfield because you get to make amazing diving catches. This picture was the sectional championship game of my senior year making a diving catch play against our rivals (although we didn't get the win that night). Even though that catch took my breath away and made my shoulder sore the rest of the game, I couldn't believe what had just happened.
6. Playing in front of a HUGE crowd
Running out of the locker room and seeing all the bleachers full and people standing or sitting on the ground is pretty exciting! It can make you nervous seeing all those faces, but it's an amazing feeling hearing the crowd go crazy.
7. Playing for my coaches
I miss all my coaches whom I got to play for! Dealing with a new coach almost every season of each sport was kind of hard, but those were the best coaches. They pushed all of us because they knew we could be a better team. One of the saddest moments of my basketball career was when the amazing man in this picture gave me a hug when I was in the locker room after our sectional game that we lost and said, "Thank you." Thanks to all my coaches. I wish I could still play for all of you!
