Growing up in the country, I have always been immersed in the world of country music. My town was so small that we did not even have our post office! My dad always drove a truck and we spent our summers outside enjoying the nature and grilling out. There are many different things that come to mind when thinking about country music. Summer. Bonfires. The Fourth of July. Fun times with friends. Freedom. There are many different reasons why I love country music and everyone should at least try listening to it!
First, country music always has a good story with lyrics full of emotion. Many times, I find myself getting wrapped up in the lyrics of a song simply because of the strong story line. Unlike in many pop or rap songs, the messages are not only about things that you would not like children to be hearing. A lot of these songs are about love, God, or the military! Another reason I love country music is the passion of country music lovers. Of all genres, country music seems to be one of the most controversial. People either love it or hate it. Again, growing up in the country, I was surrounded by people who loved country music and were very passionate about it. Over time, country music has become a part of who I am.
In addition, I love country music because of the patriotism of those who both sing and listen to it. There is no other type of music where people are as openly proud of their country. Country music tells stories about freedom and faith, things that you will not find in other types of music. There are no boundaries in country music, and people can truly sing from the heart. It would be considered the most "American" type of music. I am so grateful to be an American, and listening to music that honors our country and those who have given up their lives for what America stands for never ceases to give me the chills.
Another reason why country music is so great is the fun atmosphere it creates. Country music reminds me of summer, tail-gating, football, and ice-cold beverages. What's not to like! In general, it is very upbeat and positive music that always leaves me in a good mood. Country music is about real-life situations. It is about real people and is very relatable for the average American. That is one of the top reasons why I love it so much, because we can all understand and relate to each other through this music.
Finally, I love country music because it is unique to our great nation. No other country in the world has "American Country Music" and it is something uniquely American that we can call our own. It has a unique sound and messages relevant to our culture and what it means to truly be an American. Although not everyone can be a fan of country music, I guarantee that if everyone were to try, many would change their minds!
