What better thing to write about than something you're so passionate about? One of my favorite things EVER is country music and everything that goes along with it. When I think of country music, so many memories come to mind. To me, country music involves good times, laughter, bringing people together, sharing stories and many summer nights spent at concerts with my forever friends.
Country is a genre of music that originated in the 1920s in the Southern United States. There are different generations of country music and it has become more and more popular today in many areas. Right now, we are in the sixth generation of country music which started in the early 2000s. Carrie Underwood rose to fame in this frame of time which really sparked people's attention after she won the forth season of American Idol.
American Idol actually launched the careers of many which include Kellie Pickler, Scotty McCreery, and the occasional country singer Kelly Clarkson. One of the hottest, youngest and hippest country acts to emerge in the late 2000s was Lady Antebellum. People fell in love with her country songs that had a mix of 60s soul and 70s pop.
My love for country music began about four or five years ago. From then on, my love for it has not stopped growing.
I worked at a small ice cream shop in the middle of no where and all that played was country music. I hated it and wanted nothing to do with that "terrible noise" for the longest time. It was nothing but annoying to me. I would always ask them to change the station and complain the whole time I was at work. A couple years passed by and this so called "noise" was starting to grow on me a little, okay maybe a lot. I started listening to country and ONLY country music. In a very short period of time, I started to love country music and everything about it. From the artists to the stories that every song tells.
Now, lets fast forward about two years and I am still in love with country music and have a hard time listening to anything else. Every summer I try and go to as many country concerts I can. I even got some of my friends to love country music as much as I do and we are always searching for the nearest concert we can go to. There is nothing better than packing up your car with some food, a blanket to sit on, some great friends and heading to a concert for the night and coming back with countless memories you will remember for a lifetime. I think country music has a way of brightening up the mood and bringing people together.
