Why It Is Okay To Be Sad

Sadness cannot keep you down.

Why It Is Okay To Be Sad

Sadness is interesting. Sometimes you hate it and sometimes you love it, but no one ever says it's okay to be sad. Here's a couple reasons why I think it's okay to be sad.

1. It's okay to be sad.

It is perfectly fine to be sad. I never really liked the idea of being sad, so I never really wanted to be sad. After I realized it makes you feel loads better (see number four) and it helps just take a load off, I am all for being sad. Sometimes you have to go through the shitty emotions like sadness to get to the raw real happiness that you want to achieve. Not everything is going to happen as you want it in life, and sometimes life kind of sucks. But, you learn to adapt to that and be sad sometimes - it'll help in the long run.

2. No one is going to judge you.

And if they do, who cares! I mean, who is going out of their way to judge you for being sad. It's an emotion, we all have emotions. Some more than others. If you cry all the time, then you cry and work that crying. You are who you are and no one can change that fact.

3. Sometimes you need a good cry.

Crying used to be such a pain. The headache that comes after, then you have to wipe your tears on something nearby (whatever that may be). Then everyone wants to text you when you are crying and you have to pretend you are fine, then cry some more. Pfft. No. Ignore everything and cry your eyes out. It will help so much with taking a load off. You don't need to keep it bottled up, crying is healthy and keep yourself healthy.

4. It will make you feel ten times better.

(See number 1,3, and 4). You will honestly bounce up and say "I feel so much better." Because you honestly will. You will feel like a new day has passed and you have so much to begrateful for and you do, there's so much positivity in the world.

5. Don't let it keep you inside, take a break.

Outside is your best friend. Outside by yourself. Don't take anyone with you. Don't ask your friends to come. Go to the nearest Target or Wal-Mart and just look around and breathe. Be around other people that you don't know for a minute. Go shopping even, buy a little something for yourself. Just go outside by yourself and learn to just breathe in fresh air and not that same sad and stressful air you have been breathing in the past three days. Trust me, it will help.

6. You will accidentally clean your entire room.

Cleaning is a lifesaver. It will keep your mind fresh and new and it will clean it out as if you are cleaning it out and not your room. Your room will thank you and so will your mind. If one is clean, the other will be too.

7. Music only gets sadder, when you are sad.

Listening to Brand New and Taking Back Sunday will only get sadder for you. If you thought they were sad when you were happy, trust me, they will only get sadder. You will be crying about someone that has a pretty face that you want to save. Listen to happy music, Disney soundtracks - even High School Musical. Dance around to the Cheetah Girls soundtrack. Take a load off.

8. You will probably make a really dope playlist. Keep that in mind.

The best playlist I have made has been in the past two days.

9. Poetry / writing will seem effortless.

Poetry and writing come from the heart when you are sad. Write as much as possible and keep it for a rainy day, you never know when you might write a gem.

10. It puts everything in perspective.

Being sad really makes you appreciate what you have and how you have it. How happy things are and how happy life can actually be. Nothing is too hard or too rough for you to do - you can take on anything, even the world.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
