Why I'll Miss Obama As President

He Stood Tall Even When America Was Against Him

Why I'll Miss Obama As President

Eight years ago, Obama managed to capture the hearts and minds of the majority of American people with his campaign slogan “Change we can believe in.” There is no arguing that Obama has effortlessly tried to bring change to America with many programs including the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare (not the best plan, but we must give him his credit in trying to lower costs for those who can’t afford insurance). With Donald Trump winning the Presidential Election, Obama’s time in office is quickly coming to an end (*tears up*), and someone else must inherit the throne as President. We are about to enter into an entirely different America, and I am not sure if it will be good or bad. As Americans, I think we should appreciate the qualities and great things hat Obama has done for our country. Here are some reasons why I will miss Obama in office.

1. His Class In Dealing With Republicans.

What more is there to say?

2. His Charming Personality.

I honestly can't stop watching videos of Obama interacting with children. It literally brings tears to my eys. Is there not a more charming character than this?

3. His wife: Michelle Obama

Possibly one of the classiest first ladies in U.S. history, Michelle Obama has captured me with her beauty and elegance, as well has her class (not to mention her flawless style). Whether she is dressed sporty, casual, or formal, Michelle Obama slays in anything she wears as well as having a heart of gold. She’s such a huge inspiration to me, and it’s hard to say goodbye to her.

4. His Modesty.

Despite the pressures that come with being president, Obama knows how to keep his s**t together. You have to love that about the man.

5. He Helped Legalize Same-Sex Marriage

Kudos to you Mr. President. I am a firm believer in equality, and I FULLY believe that people should be allowed to marry whomever they wish regardless of their sexual orientation. Now that Trump has won the election, we might see some changes to this.

6. His Revival Of The Economy.

In 2008, Obama inherited one of the most economic depressions that America had seen in a while. During this time period, he managed to make healthcare affordable for many families of lower socioeconomic status as well as helping to reduce the unemployment rates in the country.

7. His Speeches

I’ve always been one to enjoy watching the speeches made by President Obama because of his eloquence and rhetoric. Obama really knows how to calm a crowd and remain “cool” despite the calamity.

8. His Reaction To Criticism

*via twitter* He's great. Just great.

9. His "Cool, Calm, And Collected" Demeanor.

As Taylor Swift says, haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate" and Obama manages to "shake it off" with dignity.

10. He's A Straight Savage.

When Republican nominee Donald Trump, now our President-elect, heinously tweeted, “President Obama will go down as the worst president in the history of the United States,” Obama’s response was priceless. By responding with “at least I will go down as a president,” Obama demonstrated classic savage moves (give the man a gold star for this).

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
