Whether you’re a sports fan or not, most girls are attracted to male athletes like a magnet. The question is: what specifically attracts girls to guys who play sports? Turns out, it’s actually deemed a science! Here are the top six reasons:
6. They Work With Kids
Many sports teams will host youth clinics or camps for kids. There, athletes serve as role models, assist in teaching sports, good sportsmanship and raising self-esteem while having fun with children. Is there anything more attractive than a guy who’s attentive and good with kids?
5. They Work Well Under Pressure
With all of the devoted time-consuming practices, persuasion and competition to win, sports can be a lot of pressure. Yet, athletes are actually known for handling pressure better than non-athletes. They tend to use a small portion of stress as energy along with the intentional “get your head in the game” focus, which ultimately brings on excitement and intensity of the game. Guys who work well under pressure (in and off of the court, field or rink) have to be the best boyfriends because they adjust to stress and just might let you win an argument or two!
4. Social Standards
Right or wrong, athletes are held in high social status. Here in the United States, the best athletes are privileged in high school, recruited by colleges and paid extraordinarily well professionally. They’re revered with awards. The media loves them, interviewing athletes and plastering their names and action shot photographs and clips in sports sections and segments. Even early on, they have a following of awed fans. Subconsciously, a popular guy -- especially a well-liked athlete -- is stereotypically appealing to the female gender. Who doesn’t fantasize being in the bleachers watching her guy slide into third base?
3. They're In Good Physical Shape
Generally, most athletes are in good, if not great, physical shape as a result of their training. Not only are they nice to visually admire, but as an evolved species, it’s human instinct to be attracted to a guy that is strong and has the physical capability to protect himself and others.
2. Confidence
Confidence is the foremost important factor in sports. How an athlete considers his ability has a lot to do with his success in the game. This mental toughness drilled into athletes by their coach generally goes beyond the field and into the classroom, workplace, and personal relationships. I know I would much rather be with a guy who is confident than lacks self-esteem; however, let’s not mistake confidence for cockiness.
1. Uniforms
Who doesn’t like a guy in uniform? There’s an actual psychological change in most girls that occurs when they see a guy in dress code. It sets off thoughts and emotions related to leadership quality, heroism, protector, winning (although we all win with baseball pants, if you know what I mean).
