Why Everyone Should Have A Dog In College

To be honest, it'd probably be easier to name the reasons why you shouldn't get a dog.

Why Everyone Should Have A Dog In College

I don't know about y'all, but I'm so jealous of every person who walks by with a dog, or any kind of animal really. Simply because I want my own little fluff ball to call my own. Pets aren't for everyone, and I get that, but you're wrong. Dogs especially are just the purest creatures on this planet and I will never get over how cute, happy, loyal and all around wonderful they are. I'll get there eventually, but y'all should go ahead and delve into the joys of being a pet parent, and here's why!

1. You get to wake up to this:

Every dog is different in their routines and habits and how they interact with you, but how could you get mad at this bundle of happiness who is just trying to love you?

2. They Can Be Good Walking/Running Buddies:

I mean, if you're into that, cool. If not, you're going to have to walk the dog anyway, so might as well go all in and start on the exercise train too! Also, dogs are kind of funny when they run. Some of them are really quirky and cause a serious case of the giggles.

3. They're the Best Snugglers Around:

Dogs are better than people in some ways, and this is definitely one of them. S'cute. Also, it's like you're actually stepping into pet parenthood you hold them, and you look down at their little face and think "they're mine" and then you'll you have a déjå vu if and when you have an actual human child.

4. They Can Be Your Protector:

I mean, look at this thing. It's taller than her! Granted, we don't actually know her height. But that's beside the point. I feel like if I ever had the strange sensation to break into a house and saw that dog, I'd turn around. Also if you go the extra step and get them properly trained, they can be that much more of a guard than anything.

5. They Can Be A Relaxing Distraction From Classes:

If you're anything like me, you experience a ton of stress from your classes. Maybe it's even legit anxiety. But having a dog could definitely reduce stress levels. I mean, therapy dogs are a thing; but even an untrained dog may do the job equally as well with their unconditional love and pure happiness they have.

6. They Can Make You Laugh:

I could literally watch dog videos all day long and not get tired of it. They're so pure. Also, they seem to be super in touch with their owners/families that it's weird. So when you pick up on the little things that a pet family does, it's so cute. Also, when they try to run and they fall that's also cute.

7. They'll Be There When You're Not Laughing:

Speaking of dogs being in tune with their owners/families, they can also sense when you're not at your best. They can tap into your emotions and change their interactions with you in order to help you feel better. Like one time I heard a story about a girl who was crying and her dog saw and immediately brought her a sock to try and make her smile. Is that not the cutest thing you've ever heard? So pure.

8. You're Literally Their Whole World, So They'll Love You To Pieces:

To me, this is real world shattering. Most dogs know nothing else except for you, and the life they live with you. So they will actually love you unconditionally, and sadly, that's not something everyone experiences.

9. And Finally, They're So Stinking Cute:

Enough said.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
