College tends to be super stressful: and often the last thing a student is worried about is getting a dog, because they are an extra stress. However, I was given an 8 month old German Shepard when I was a freshman in college and my life has been changed for the better. Sure some days it is stressful trying to figure out when I'm going to have time to let the dog out, but most days are pretty easy.
1. Every day begins with a wet puppy kiss.
There is not a morning that would pass by without wet puppy good morning
2) Weekly Adventures (by adventures I mean exercise).
Naturally being an owner to a dog means you've got to take your dog out to get some exercise. I find the most peaceful thing to do with my dog is to take a walk. One of our favorite spots is the Hofwyl- Broadfield Plantation trail. The trail is about 3 miles long and is absolutely beautiful.
3) You always have a Starbucks date.
I don't mind going to Starbucks alone, but why would I do that when I can bring my fur ball with me? Like most girls I love to grab a coffee and go. However, on my off days I love to pack a beach towel and a water bowl so I can sit on the patio with my pup. P.S. if you bring your pup to Starbucks, ask for a puppy latte; I promise your dog will love you so much more.
4) Laughing is a guarantee.
Dogs are silly. They want to play fetch and then once they get the ball it turns into keep away. They love the beach but hate baths. Or my most favorite, they think you're a comfortable place to sit. No matter what kind of day you're having, if you own a dog it is a day without dull moments and guaranteed laughter.
5) A dog is loyal and loving till the very end.
They are your best friend and you are theirs. At the end of the day they love you more than they did yesterday. Cherish the time you have with your dog, it is limited.
