Vol Football is on its way to becoming one of the best programs in the SEC, and I whole-heartedly believe in them and even in our coaching staff. I will not give up on the Vols after the Florida loss.
I have loved Tennessee football since I was old enough to know what Football is.
My dad is pretty laid-back, he was outnumbered by me, my mom, and my sisters so he learned to just kind of go with the flow; however, he had two rules that we went by in our house. We love Vol Football, and if you ever cheer for Bama you are kicked out. I have loved Vol football since I was a tiny little girl, I can remember watching it with my dad, I can remember it being in the background of family functions. I remember it always being talked about, from amazing players like Inky Johnson to Eric Berry and then of course Peyton Manning. No matter where I went in my small East Tennessee town, Vol pride followed. Vol pride is something that is rooted in you as a child. You learn that, win or lose, you bleed orange regardless. I think people are forgetting that this season. You aren't just a vol when its convenient, you are a vol when we lose those tough games, and you are a vol when we win those amazing games in Neyland Stadium. Being a Vol is about tradition, it is about loyalty, I wont give up on our team after two tough losses, I am a better Vol than that.
Not only that, but this team is so so so talented. This is one of the best teams that we have had in years, skill wise, talent wise, and just overall morale. These boys literally leave it all on the field. For the past four Saturdays, they have given every thing that they have for Tennessee and that's just the work that we see as the fans. We don't see the long hours of practice, film, and meetings that they go through every single weekday. We don't see the hours of extra workouts they put in. All we see is what happens on Saturday nights. We are 2-2 right now. The season has literally just started. If I gave up on school every time I screwed up on a test, after I worked my ass of studying for it, I would have dropped out the second month of my first semester. But I knew that I was just a freshmen and that it would get better.
Onto my next point, our boys are young. They are learning, and they are growing as players, as a team, and they are growing with Coach Jones. Jones hasn't been here for that long either, people. We are rebuilding a program, it isn't easy. It takes patience, determination, and perseverance and quite honestly if you don't see the work that our team and coaches are putting in, and if you don't stick around to see the amazing things this program is going to do then you don't deserve to be a Vol anyways.
I will leave you with one last thing, BRICK BY BRICK.
