Why College Students Should Travel the World

I bet that everyone that reads this article, whether a college student or not, has had dreams of traveling the world.

Don’t we all?

And we should.

Traveling is so important, at any age, but especially during your college years.

You’re young enough to be adventurous, but old enough to enjoy the world in its full potential—the perfect combination to traveling the world.

Traveling isn’t about going somewhere to relax; it’s about immersing yourself into the world around you. If you want to relax, go on vacation.

The world is very different place for people all across the planet, and its important that we understand the world around us. We cannot be blind to the people of the world who may be different from us.

Anywhere you go has a different culture—a way of life. Whether that is just down the street or across the ocean. And its important to understand and learn about the culture you have put yourself into.

Because after all that is why we travel—to learn. And isn’t college a continuation of learning?

But its not just about learning, its about growing as a person while you learn. And seeing the world is a way to grow.

People who are different and see the world differently, help you develop a better understand of the way the world works.

To the most productive member of the world you can be, there is a need to appreciate the differences in people’s lives around the world. Once we start to appreciate those lives, we grow as people.

And it doesn’t stop there.

We not only grow as people, but as students.

We, as students, are expanding our view of culture, which can only enhance our ability to grow as students.

With an extended view of culture, we can solve problems with a worldview in mind. We will understand the people’s problems, because we have seen them first hand.

We will have sat with them and listened to their worries. We will have seen the beauty they wish not to be destroyed. We will have been immersed into the culture they wish to protect.

And I think that is so important for college students to listen to, and be apart of.

Because in four short years, we will have jobs, and some of us will be making decisions that could impact those people we have met in our travels.

So instead of politicians and CEOs making decisions that will most benefit themselves, we can begin a time where the most powerful people in the world have the best sense of the world’s culture. And will make decisions based on what’s best for everyone involved.

So travel. Travel far and wide. Discover a new way of life. Put yourself into a new world. Be apart of something bigger.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
