Growing up, I was attached to my mother's hip and did everything she did and went everywhere she went. I’ve grown to make her my role model in life, not just because she is the strongest and most independent woman I’ve known, but because she is the rock to my entire family. The first person I run to when I’m in trouble or just need someone to talk to is my mom and I wish there were enough “thank you's” and “I love you's” in the world to give back what she’s given me. I look back on the little arguments and bickering we did as I was growing up, but I'm grateful for all of that because we wouldn't be as close as we are today. She’s sacrificed everything she had just to see me smile and she has accomplished it many of times.
Mom, if you’re reading this, I’m so blessed to call you my mommy and I honestly don’t say this enough but I love you.
1. She always knows how to find the best sales.
My shopping skills and habits have definitely rooted from my mom. I can’t walk into Macy’s or Bloomingdale's without asking her if she has any coupons or knows of any sales they’re having. I can’t wait to have that skill of finding sales and discounts as easily as my mom and pass it onto my kids.
2. She always knows what she wants to eat.
“What do you want to eat for dinner?” Dad: Whatever is good. Me: Same. Mom: Okay. We’re getting tacos. Shout out to all the moms that find the finish lines to all of our indecisive minds on what we’re going to eat. Thanks for taking all the pressure, you never disappoint.
3. She will always give me the honest answer about everything.
I think even a lot of the people that care about you will throw you a little white lie from time to time. My mom tells it like it is and will tell me if the decision I’m making isn’t the best or if she just doesn’t like the outfit I’m wearing that day. You can always count on her to give you the complete truth about everything you ask from her.
4. Mother knows best.
It’s true. I’ve witnessed it 20 plus times. From buying a bad pair of heels, to dating a certain someone, Mom knew it just wasn’t going to work out. It’s crazy. I can’t wait to have that sense of intuition.
5. She will kick your a** if you mess with her kids.
Nothing’s better and scarier than a mom’s love for her kids. Just think of how a mama bear protects her cubs, it’s like that.
6. She will always be the best food buddy there is.
Did your friends bail on you? No big deal. Mom is always up for a pizza/Chipotle/Dunkin' run.
7. She’s always down for a mall trip.
Stressed? Need to get out? Just want to shop? Momma is as ready to go to the mall as you are. Even if it’s just to “window shop”, we all know how that’s going to end.
8. I’ve messed up, but her love is extremely unconditional.
I can’t even think of how many times I was the opposite of the “perfect child”. I hate knowing that I’ve made my mom angry or upset because of my actions. I’ve never known my mom to not say “I love you” at the end of the day, regardless of my mistakes. She is truly a superwoman and I can’t thank her enough of how amazing she really is.
I love you Mommy!
