Why Being a Mets Fan is The Best and Worst Thing in The World. Long Island Writers

As Mets fans, we always have to prepare ourselves for the upcoming season, the heartbreaking injuries, the losses, the errors and the pitching and fielding that at times makes us want to throw our televisions out the window. I have been a Mets fan for as long as I can remember, whether it be going to a game or watching it at home, I have always been a fan of baseball. Watching the Mets play is an event. You never really know what you will get. It could be a thrilling win or a discouraging loss. We have seen the bad and the good in the games and players. We have come to love some players more then others and always are sad to see them go onto other teams and watch them shine brighter and hit better then they did when they were on the Mets. The best part, in my opinion about being a Mets fan is the fans. We are among some of the most loyal and passionate fans that you will find anywhere. We cheer the Mets at every game home or away, there are always Mets fans in the crowd to support and cheer. The phrase “Ya Gotta Believe” is thrown around when people talk about the Mets and that phrase is so relevant because just when you are about to give up on them, they come back and surprise you! I love watching Met videos from the earlier years and seeing how far they have come. It always gives me hope. However at times, it can be hard to be a Mets fan. When they lose a lot of games or have too many injuries to their best players it can be disheartening. Another aspect of being a Mets fan or really a fan of any team is the trades. The trading aspect of the game is not something that I am fan of because as fans we get attached to the players and are never happy to see them go. The most recent trades of Addison Reed, Curtis Granderson, and Rene Rivera were heartbreaking as these players were some of my favorites. It was hard to see them go. The hardest one for me though was when Bartolo Colon was traded. He was so much fun to watch. He was always out there having a grand old time and it reminded me that sports are about fun and not about winning or losing. It was hard to see them all go but I do wish them well on their new teams and look forward to when we face them! It may be hard to be a Mets fan at times but I wouldn’t change it for the world or root for any other team!

Let’s Go Mets!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
