Holly Holm suprisingly kicked Ronda Rousey out of her UFC winning streak.
UFC 193 champion was unexpected by the majority of people, but those who knew about Holm's backstory knew this fight wouldn't go down like Rousey's previous.
I was unaware of her skills since the only coverage of this fight was of how great and awesome Rousey was (not to say she still isn't).
I was serving that night and had asked my table, one of which whom never fails to come in for a UFC fight, who they were rooting for. When they told me it was Holm I was shocked, but more so interested as to why, since it seemed like everyone was rooting for Rousey.

Holm's career started back in 2000 when she took an aerobics class by an instructor who also taught kickboxing. She was encouraged by her instructor to pursue kickboxing and ended up winning the national title in the adult women's welterweight division at the International Kickboxing Federation.
In 2002 she made her professional kickboxing career debut.
Holm's was named the female Fighter of the Year twice in 2005 and 2006 by Ring Magazine.
She was claimed to be one of the best female welterweights in the world, and in 2008 she was the holder of belts from 140-154.
In 2011 she made her mixed martial arts debut against Christina Domke and won the fight since Domke was unable to continue due to leg kicks inflicted by Holm.
She then went back to MMA fighting, defeating Katie Merill at Bellator 91 and Mary Mcgee in 2013 which ended in her retiring from her boxing career.
In 2014 Holm signed a contract for five fights with UFC, one of them including her fight against Rousey.
Holm was the underdog and took those, who did not know of her talents, for surprise when she head-kicked Rousey in the second round, knocking Rousey down.
It wasn't just this kick that determined Rousey's fate, but Holm's incredible defense and strikes here and there that ultimately ended Rousey's undefeated streak.
