"Middle school was the best time of my life!" - said no one ever. Now that my little sister that is currently going through her middle school years, I am constantly reminded about mine. So many people try to block out their middle school years and pretend that it just never happened, but not me! I love to talk about my middle school years, because in all honesty they weren't THAT bad... I say that instead of pretending that they never happened we should embrace these years because hey, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
We all had those rough hair cuts, possible acne outbreaks, glasses that never seemed to look good, and braces. Looking at old pictures, some people cringe when they seem themselves. Remember when we would change our braces colors to match the time of year?! That was so great! Instead of hating ourselves we should look back and laugh. We should realize how ridiculous we all were at that age and appreciate that times have changed.
My middle school years were pretty great (not gonna lie, it might've been my peak). Thank goodness my middle school peers actually cared more about personality than looks. My personality was able to overpower my not so great fashion taste. I'm not sure if my ratty t-shirts and baggy jeans could've helped me gain any type of popularity that I was somehow able to obtain. Even though my years middle school years were pretty great, I understand how tough they could've been for others. Since we all had to go through those terribly ugly years, we should appreciate how far we have come as individuals.
Imagine if every person stopped growing at age 14. Imagine a world full of 14-year-olds. Now let's be grateful that this isn't the case and never think of this again. Because we all did have to go through this rough time we should look back at it in a better light.
