When Someone Calls You Sister

When Someone Calls You Sister

When someone calls you sister, you have a lifelong best friend. Short moments become lasting memories, and small things turn into big things. When someone calls you sister, a love is found in your heart that no one knew existed. Heartstrings are tied, and you pray they will never sever. When someone calls you sister, late nights with friends lose their appeal, and a quiet evening at home means the world. Helping with homework becomes a daily routine, and fights over the bathroom do too. When someone calls you sister, suddenly the nights are not as long and the monsters are not as big as you once thought. As you tuck them into bed each night, you pray that they will grow up to move mountains and change lives. When someone calls you sister, there will be plenty of practice forgiving and forgetting, and you pray you will never part. The fights will come, but they do not last long.

When someone calls you sister, there are coffee dates and donut dates and race car watching dates. There are sleepovers in the living room, building blanket forts and watching Disney movies. When someone calls you sister, tickle wars are often, loud cheering is a must, and cleaning is never too hard. When someone calls you sister, clothes are traded back and forth each day, and taxiing them different places becomes a part time job. When someone calls you sister, you agree to do things no one thought you could. Inside jokes and funny memories make for great dinner discussion. When someone calls you sister, there is always a reason to miss home. They excitedly wait for the familiar car to roll up the driveway, whether it has been two days or two months. When someone calls you sister, they always have your back. They believe the best about you, even if it is not true. When someone calls you sister, jagged scars turn into scary stories, and teasing is constant. Towel fights, nerf gun wars, and ping pong battles are not soon forgotten. When someone calls you sister, the heartbreaks are not quite as hard, because there is always someone walking with you. Even on the lonely nights you are not alone, and often notes are left on your mirror. When someone calls you sister, bargaining for chores is done with food, and every penny is lucky. The sky is never too grey that a hug cannot warm your heart. When someone calls you sister, laughter is never far away. School drama is shared, questions are asked, and prayers are said. When someone calls you sister, dancing in public is always acceptable. You argue over which restaurant to eat at, and the music playing in the car. When someone calls you sister, they know you inside and out and love you anyway. Love becomes a day in and day out decision, and is shown in the smallest of things. When someone calls you sister, it is one of God's greatest blessings. It is easy to take sibilings for granted, but what would we do without them?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
