When Life Seems Tough

Life isn't supposed to be easy.

We all know by now that life is not all sunshine. Life really knows how to kick us down. What's worse is it seems that once we think we've hit the bottom, life is like "JK, guys, check out this trap door" and we fall even further. Whether it's work, school, family, relationships, or anything else that is important to you it is important to remember it will never be perfect. Sh*t is going to get hard. That's what happens when you grow older. Things keep getting harder because we keep trying to improve ourselves. With new wishes and wants, we need to learn how to get those things through trials and tribulations. Do not kid yourself, do not expect to chase great things and come up victorious with no scratches. You will fail, you will want to give up, you will think you've caught your break just to realize it was not what you expected. Life is going to kick you around, and you might lose faith in your dreams because it starts to seem impossible.

Life loves to make us doubt ourselves, but in these moments of self doubt it is important to remember that while life is hard it is also amazing. Maybe the things you want out of life are harder to accomplish than you once thought, but that means once you succeed it will be that much more fulfilling. When life has torn you down to your ultimate breaking point, you will break out of your old-self and start your climb to the peak of your potential.

When life seems tough, remember that you are tougher. You are a fighter, and up to this point you have been training to push forward. You are so much more than your downfalls. You are also in charge of your happiness. Remember that when you are feeling helpless. Life will push you down so you will learn to pick yourself up. Life is a series of hardships and prosperity, and your key to success is learning to ride those waves.

When you feel beat down because you were not accepted to your dream school, remember to smile because, though they did not see your potential, that school a few states over sees all of the amazing things you are capable of doing. Refuse to let life keep you down. Life is tough, but always remember you are tougher.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
