So, you are around the age where you have a job, you go to meetings every week, you have bills to pay (or you give money to your parents for your phone/car), and you are a student. Man, that is a lot, and fortunately you are not alone in this. All of the people I am close with have some form of a bill to pay, some pay for their tuition, and MANY more are engaged or married, so they have so much more to worry about.
So in this season of adulting, I have come up with a few things that make me feel better:
1. Find a coloring book, and color your heart out.
Something that always helped me get through finals was taking a coloring break between studying or right before finals. I have seen everywhere that coloring Mandalas is beneficial for stress. I personally like the animal ones from Walmart, but that's just me!
2. Read a good book.
Why not leave this world full of stress for another one where you can live the life through a fictional character? Or maybe read some poetry that helps you rethink your situation or to look at the world differently. What ever you genre preference is, pick up some literature and wander.
3. Take a nice, relaxing bath.
What could be more relaxing than a nice warm bath, candles lit, soft music playing, and creating a Santa beard from bubbles? Grab a cup of tea, fill a bath, and just forget your worries. Hakuna Matata my friends.
4. Build something out of Legos.
For my friends who still own Legos and enjoy building things, this could be very relaxing. Use your hands and create whatever comes to your mind. Create your own stress-free world.
5. Take a nap.
My personal favorite. My body tends to shut down when I face stress, so why not just take 30 minutes to your self and recharge? Find a comfy space, a warm blanket, and just slowly fall asleep.
6. Do a DIY.
While procrastinating you come across a Nifty video of how to upgrade a shadow box frame, why not try it yourself? It not only helps get your mind off of life, but will help make your room look even better!
7. Cook or bake something.
This one speaks for itself, you get a treat, your friends get a treat. The perfect study snack!!
8. Watch a movie/Netflix.
So you can't fall asleep, oh well. Pull up Netflix and start watching your current show. Just make sure you don't end up watching the whole season, or the next...
9. Clean your room/house.
So you can't study in a dirty room, I think this happens to us all. Take a few minutes and tidy up, clean your sheets, vacuum, and dust. A clean room makes for a happy person.
10. Go for a walk or exercise.
There are many benefits to walking. Your'e so stressed that none of the above tips helped? Go for a walk, a calming walk that helps you gather your thoughts and get your mind moving toward a solution.
11. Have a girls night/bro night.
If all else fails, call your squad and get out of your situation and laugh. Good company makes for a good time. Who knows, one of your friends could be in the same situation and you two can find a solution together.
