27 Quotes That I Absolutely Live By

I would not have gotten through some of the hardest times in my life if I didn't have these words to hold on to.

I'm a sucker for a good quote. Some of these might sound clique but the more people say them, the more I believe them. In my life these have been the ones that I have held on to and when times get tough or I start to question myself, I read them again and again.

I think you can learn a lot about a person from the words that speak to them.

1. There's no monster, just a beautiful day.

This is my all time favorite quote. It is from the greatest book I have ever read, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. It means that all your fear is just in your head, when in reality everything is okay. It's just another simple day.

2. You know, sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it.

- Benjamin Mee, We Bought a Zoo

3. Just when you don't think you can take it anymore, take it a little more.

4. God makes no mistakes.

- Genesis 18:1-33

5. This too shall pass.

6. 5 by 5 rule: if it won't matter in 5 years, don't spend more than 5 minutes upset about it.

7. You're doing a lot better than you think you're doing.

8. You were given this life because you are strong enough to live it.

9. Tough times don't last, tough people do.

10. Sometimes you have to forget what you want and remember what you deserve.

11. It's okay not to be okay.

12. If it costs you your peace, it's too expensive.

13. Not today.

This is something I say to myself frequently. Not today. "I'm not going to give up today." It's easier to take it one day at a time.

14. Do one thing every day that scares you.

- Eleanor Roosevelt

15. If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten.

- Anthony Robbins

16. How you love yourself is how you teach others to love you.

- Rupi Kaur

17. Everything will be okay in the end, if it's not okay, it's not the end.

- John Lennon

18. You have to die a few times, till you can really live.

- Charles Bukowski

19. Pain demands to be felt.

- John Green, The Fault in our Stars

20. People who are different have a shot at being original.

- Jim Carrey, The Art of Authenticity

21. We do not fear the unknown, we fear what we think we know about the unknown.

- Teal Swan

22. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

- Franklin D. Roosevelt

23. Feelings are neither right nor wrong, they just are.

24. It's all in how you look at it.

Everything in life is your perspective. Two people can be in the same situation but have too totally different reactions. Think positive because you are in control of your happiness.

25. I'd rather regret the things I have done than wonder what could have been.

26. You are enough.

27. Someday this pain will be useful.

- Ovid

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
