On Friday, September 18, 2015, the lives of "Zoey 101" fans were changed forever by #WhatDidZoeySay? If you haven’t been paying attention to the Internet for the past week, Dan Schneider, the creator of the Teen Nick show that made us all want to go to boarding school, released a video in response to the infamous episode of "Zoey 101" called “Time Capsule.” Zoey says something about Chase in the time capsule, and Chase and all of the viewers were desperate to know what Zoey said, but she said we had to wait 10 years. For a nine-year-old, that seems like forever. All I wanted to know was what Zoey said about Chase because they were obviously meant to be together forever. So 10 years later, when we had all but forgotten how desperate we were to know the answer, Dan Schneider holds true to Zoey’s promise and grown-up "Zoey 101" fans everywhere freaked out. Dan Schneider’s gift to fans of the show was quirky and hilarious, just like the show we all loved.
We were, however, left hanging with a "to be continued" at the end as Michael told Chase that Zoey thought that Chase could be her soulmate, and Chase ditches the girl he was about to propose to in order to go find Zoey. So the question is: what will happen to our childhood OTP? Will Chase find Zoey? Will they get back together? What happened after they started dating at the prom in the finale? I have a few theories to share with you.
Option 1: Zoey and Chase went to Maui together the summer after they got together. Zoey worked as a Cabana girl, and Chase worked as a waiter at the hotel restaurant; and in their time off they explored the island and had a fun and romantic summer. When they graduated from PCA and went to different colleges, they decided that a long distance relationship would be too hard and to just be friends. They went their separate ways but rarely saw each other because Zoey went to school in London and Chase stayed in California. When Chase hears what Zoey said in the time capsule, he gets on the next flight to London where Zoey still lives and finds her and tells her that he loves her, but they find themselves with the same problem as before. Their lives just don’t match up, so they part as friends again, and Chase goes back to get Alyssa back.
Option 2: Zoey and Chase went to Maui and then college, but they ended up at the same college in California and continued to date. They broke up halfway through college, and they haven’t spoken since. When Chase hears what Zoey said in the time capsule, he uses Michael to track Zoey down and to tell her that he loves her. Zoey realizes that she never stopped loving Chase but then finds out that he ditched Alyssa as he was about to propose and gets mad and tells him that she could never be with a guy who dumps a girl like that.
Option 3: Zoey and Chase go to Maui together and have the time of their lives and then go to separate colleges. They try to make dating work in college, but it’s just too hard and they end up going their separate ways. The PCA gang gets together all the time for reunions, but Zoey moves to England for graduate school where she gets married and has a daughter. Chase ends up living in New York and working there. Zoey is very wrapped up in her family life, and when her husband dies tragically in a car accident, she has no time between work and raising her daughter to visit her friends from home. When Chase hears what Zoey said in the time capsule, he calls her and tells her that he’s coming to England; but she tells him that she isn’t in England anymore. Her parents convinced her to move back home so that they can help her to raise her daughter because the last two years have been difficult for Zoey. She is just getting settled in to her new home in Malibu. Chase tells her to meet him at PCA where they see each other for the first time in five years, and Chase tells Zoey that he saw the video and that he’s never stopped loving her but thought with all that she’s been through she wouldn’t want a relationship. Zoey tells Chase that she still loves him too, and they get back together because that’s just what soulmates do. Chase eventually ends up moving back to California. They get married on the beach in Malibu, and all their PCA friends are in the wedding party. Chase loves Zoey’s daughter, and they have three more kids. All their kids go to PCA.
