What's Next America?

5 stages of grief

This election has shaken the nation. Many people are unhappy with the results so I ask what now? What's the next move America? We have a lot of choices since we're a free nation. However since we are going through grief here are the 5 stages we will probably go through as a country.

1. Denial

You can say he's not your president. This does not change the fact that if you are an American citizen he is going to be your president. You can be so bitter and anger at America. You can tweet and post nasty and rude stuff all day long. In the end you're hurting yourself, you're spreading negative vibes to everyone around you.

2. Anger

We can protest. Yes you can go out and protest against Mr. Trump however what is the goal here? He's not going to not become the president. I am all for protest that have an end goal, civil rights protests, woman's rights, LGBTQ rights. These all had a goal and they have all been achieved to a certain extent. (There's always room for improvement) So protesting with no end goal seems crazy to me, but you can do it.

3. Bargaining

You can blame the electoral college and say that it’s completely bogus. You can act like a mistake has been made and that really Hillary should be our president. Signing petitions and hoping that this isn’t the reality. You can do all of this, but it probably isn’t going to work.

4. Depression

This will probably occur when he is actually inducted into office. This is when the fight needs to be over because it will become a reality. Many people are going to be upset and we need to be there for those people. I’m sorry that people are going to go through this phase and that people are going to be hurting. Luckily after this stage comes acceptance and the quicker you get here the happier you’ll be.

5. Acceptance

You can accept that this is happening. We are getting a new president that many disagree with, you don't have to like it but you do have to accept that it's happening. If you want to go crazy you can even support it. We're all Americans and when we protest our leader and are only hoping for failure what can you expect? We should take it upon ourselves to be bigger people than Mr. Trump and pray for his decisions. Pray that he has guidance in his choices because ultimately they're going to affect us. Wishing him to fail is equivalent to wishing America fails. Lastly we can make sure everyone feels safe and loved. I don't understand why everyone feels the need to knock people down, I don't care who you are we all deserve the same rights and to be treated with respect. I hope America moves from anger into acceptance really soon or it's going to be a rough four years. Acceptance is next.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
