What is going on in the world?
Even a person who is not an avid news reader knows about all of the recent tragedies that have been happening over the last few months. The natural disasters such as Hurricane Irma and Maria have caused so much damage that our president is worried about how our budget being spent. People who live in Puerto Rico, Florida, and other affected places, are suffering beyond our comprehension.
Some people claim that they are desensitized because every day there’s a new tragedy. We don’t have time to get over one tragedy before we move on to the next one.The important fact to remember is that even if we are far away, WE CAN HELP. Simply by spreading the news so that our fellow acquaintances and loved ones know what’s going on. If you don’t mind spending a little money and have the funds, there are also several Gofundme pages where you can donate money to help a cause.
Facebook has an option now, for people whose birthday is coming up, to give the option of donating their birthday to the cause of helping people in those suffering places. There was a complaint going around that posting after a tragedy that a place is “in my thoughts and prayers” is not doing anything. So Facebook stepped it up.
Aside from natural disasters that inevitably were going to happen, there was a recent shooting in Las Vegas. The suspect is a 64-year-old white man who shot and killed 58 people with no documented explanation and also injured hundreds more. This is what you can find all over the news. What I have to add to the situation is that despite hearing all of this craziness, there were people there who banded together in Vegas and saved as many people as possible.
Tragedies and politics have united people within the last year, especially over the controversial leadership, but not in the way it should have. There was a lot of negativity out there. People should be promoting positivity! Let's continue to mourn together and take action, and surely we can come up from even the worst of times and help each other.
