What Your Sleeping Position Says About You

According to Professor Chris Idzikowski, the director of the UK sleeping Assessment and Advisory Service, conducted a research study on how sleeping positions can indicate who we are. Especially around uncertain times to help boost and moral, a good night's sleep helps the brain function and give support with the task that comes about in the day.

Nearly most people have had a bad night's sleep that has drastically affected how they felt throughout the next day. So, it only makes sense that how you sleep indicates to people about your personality, whether on nights you can't get comfortable and when you sleep like a baby.

In his research, Prof. Idzikowski even found how about 5 percent of who said they slept in a different position every night. Whether it's a change for some people or the usual spots, he also found the health benefits and risks for each position.

So, what is your position, and what does it tell about you? Let's find out.

The Fetal Position

The most common sleeping position. If you sleep on your side or curl up like a baby, it's a good sign that tough on the outside but sensitive at heart. At night, you curl up into a ball like you're protecting yourself, and you keep your knees to your chest, huddled together. They may be shy when they first meet somebody but soon relax when comfortable with that person.

The Log Position

This position when you sleep on your sides with your arms positioned on the side as well. If you sleep like this research shows that these sleepers are chill, social people like being part of the in-crowd, and trusting strangers. However, they may be gullible.

The Starfish Position

In this position, the person has there arms and legs sprawled out with their head turned to the side either on their belly or back. These sleepers make good friends because they are always ready to listen to others and offer help. They generally don't like to be the center of attention. These sleepers are selfless people and love to give.

The Soldier Position

Sleepers who sleep on their backs with arms to the side-lying flat are not only one of the healthiest sleeping positions but also not one of the most popular. For the people who sleep in this stance are generally quiet and reserved. They don't like a fuss but set themselves and other high standards.

The Free Faller Position

People who sleep in this position, are flat on their stomach, hugging their pillow turned to the side. These sleepers often highly social and with a bombastic personality, but can be nervy and thin-skinned underneath and don't like criticism, or extreme situations.

Pillow Hugger

These sleepers love comfort. Pillow huggers value close personal bonds, their family, friends, and especially their relationships over everything else. They are hard-workers and hold their bonds tight with them.

The Thinker

Like the famous art statue, these sleepers like the fetal position, except your hand, rest gently on your chin. The difference from the fetal position in traits is emotions run high and tend to vary drastically.

The Yearner

This position is exactly what it sounds like: You're lying on your side with your arms outstretched in front of you, aka yearning for something. People who sleep on their side with both arms out in front are said to have an open nature, but can be suspicious, cynical. They are slow to make up their minds, but they are unlikely ever to change once they have taken a decision.

The name of this sleep style perfectly describes the people who pass out in this position, too. People who sleep on their backs with their arms wrapped above their heads tend to carry a happy-go-lucky attitude. Even more impressive, these sleepers make their friendships top priority and do whatever they can to help them.

Other extra finding Professor Idzikowski concluded was the freefall position was good for digestion. In contrast, the starfish and soldier positions were more likely to lead to snoring and a bad night's sleep.

Professor Idzikowski said, "Lying down flat means that stomach contents can more readily back up into the mouth. Those who lie on their back may end up snoring and breathing less well during the night. "Both these postures may not necessarily awaken the sleeper but could cause a less refreshing night's sleep."

Aside from zodiac signs and personality types, sleep can play a significant factor in how we go about every day. Knowing how you also sleep with getting a good night's rest sets you up to be the person you are. Which one is yours? I hope this adds on more things to know about yourself from how you sleep in the many oddities of our traits and personalities from our everyday routine of catching zzzs.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
