What to Remember to Get Through to Christmas Break

Only two weeks until the happiest time of the year!

What to Remember to Get Through to Christmas Break

Even though we just finished the turkey and sweet potatoes, I cannot wait to hear sleigh bells and see the world covered in snow; I know I am not alone. I started listening to 93.9 immediately when I woke up on Friday. Christmas shopping has begun and all that is on my mind is being snuggled up in my house with big, warm blankets and hot chocolate watching Christmas specials with friends and family. The only issue: school for two weeks. Just two weeks until we can experience the wonderful holidays. This may not be easy for us Christmas lovers out there, though. So I have put together some ideas to help us get through these next two weeks.

Decorate for Christmas

This is the absolute first step of what to do approaching the holiday season. Anything you can decorate, do so! Make everyone in the mood for Christmas by creating a cozy, festive atmosphere to enjoy!

Get a Holiday Drink

Starbucks obviously does have some of the best holiday drinks money can buy and the red cups never fail to put me in the spirit. But wherever you can get a peppermint mocha, I advise you to order one up, sip and be merry.

Study

This clearly should always be the number one priority. Especially before finals, we must raise whatever we have been slacking (and if we do well enough, maybe get to come home early!). But more importantly, this will take up time and make the wait to get home even shorter.

Go Out

Similar to the last, this will take up time and make the wait seem shorter. Also a bonus--you can go out and have tons of new stories to tell your friends again when you come home.

Workout

This is very, very important leading up to the holidays. Listen, we have to admit there is no way around eating perfectly during this time. It is almost a requirement to eat one ton of chocolate every day. Furthermore, we tend to be cooped up inside and may have zero desire to conquer the piercing cold outside. So sitting on the couch, also, does not assist in the bikini body we are hoping for. Do yourself a favor and work out now.

Eat Well

Because you won't be in about two weeks. (Sneak some chocolate every once in a while though.)

Listen to Christmas Music (on repeat)

Listening to Christmas music brings so much joy to my day; I am usually barely able to stop smiling. It's almost as if you have to be happy while listening. This will make you more and more excited to come home for the holidays.

Before we know it, we will be home with the ones we love experiencing one of the happiest times of the year! I cannot wait and am trying to make the most out of these next two weeks. Happy Holidays, everyone!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
