Tax cuts!
For everyone? No! President-elect Donald J. Trump plans on making some huge tax breaks for the wealthy, something that will benefit himself and his people of interest. He believes these cuts will be beneficial in some way. The wealthy are taxed at the rates that they are because they can afford it. There are already cooperate loopholes for companies to avoid taxes as much as possible, there’s no need for them to paying even less taxes. The only benefit to slashing taxes on the top 1% is keeping the rich rich.
Lower crime rates! Maybe?
Trump has stated that he believes the “Stop and Frisk” should be reinstated claiming that the practice was only ended due to “a judge, a very against police judge,” (pause to applaud his eloquent wording) when in fact it was deemed to be unconstitutional and noticeably encouraged racial profiling, a fact that Trump adamantly denied during the first presidential debate. On top of that, he made claims that the stop and frisk tactic brought the crime rate “way down,” and mentioned taking away guns from “people that shouldn’t be having them”, when the crime rates actually would have dropped anyway, and they continued to drop well after the Stop and Frisk was no longer in use, and 99.98% of people that were frisked did not have guns in their possession!
More babies!
Babies are great, right? Trump has stated that he is pro-life and intends to appoint a new judge to the Supreme Court that is pro-life. There has even been talk of having Roe v. Wade overturned. With over-population there is absolutely no need for more children. For families that want to adopt there are already plenty of children that need homes all over the world. Not only that, but the right to choose is not just about killing babies, it is about a woman’s right to have control over her own body. Abortion should be a medical and moral issue, not a legal one. A woman’s decision to abort her baby should be between her and her doctor and protected by the constitutional right to privacy. The government getting involved in a woman’s medical decisions is a violation of her right to privacy. Oh, and while we’re on the subject, want to know the best way to avoid unwanted pregnancies? Raise awareness about birth control and make it easier to obtain! Educate women about protecting themselves. Oh yeah, and don’t rape.
A wall. Well, an attempt.
Trump has stated tons of times he wants to build a wall between the US and Mexico and has claimed that he’ll get the Mexican government to pay for it, even after the former Mexican president told CNN reporters “I’m not going to pay for that f***ing wall.” The point of the wall being that it will help keep out illegal Mexican immigrants, who Trump has claimed bring drugs, crime, and are rapists. History has shown that building walls to keep people out is a great idea. I mean, look how well the Berlin wall worked out? Oh wait…
More money for education!
This is so wonderful, our public schools are in desperate need of more funding. Thank goodness they’re finally going to be able to afford more books, arts programs – just kidding. Actually Trump selected Betsy Devos to be the Secretary of Education, a woman who has a history of funneling tax dollars into private and religious schools. The ultra conservative woman is only supportive of schools that incorporate religious education into the curriculum and she is known to be for “abstinence only” education, a method that has failed time and time again to prevent accidental pregnancy. She is mainly known to be an advocate for charter schools, which are publicly funded schools that are privately run. A perfect place for her to use tax dollars for religious education.
A cabinet that needs to be restocked.
Trumps choices to fill out his cabinet are disappointing, to say the least. He’s included handfuls of money hungry businessmen and people with limited to no experience in politics, including former neurosurgeon Ben Carson. Ben Carson is politically conservative and has openly spoken out against Obamacare and repeatedly criticized the Obama administration. He has been chosen to be the secretary of the department of Housing and Urban Development, despite his complete lack of experience or education on the subject.
