Ever dreading the walk to your various classes? I used to think it was a "waste" of my time and wished there was a way to avoid the 15-20 minute walk to work and class from my house. Now, I have learned to see this time as one of my favorite parts of the day. Whether you do something productive on your walk or just enjoy the weather, there are so many things to "do" on your trek to class.
Call your mom
At least once a day I have the opportunity to call one of my family members on my walk to campus, and I love that! I think my mom believes I just use her to busy myself while I walk to class now because I call her so much more than I did my freshman year. Not seeing her that often makes me miss out on what is happening in her life (and the rest of my family's life -- dang that woman knows everything that is going on!) Do me a favor and try calling your mom on your way to class, she'll be more than happy to talk to you.
Listen to some tunes
If I'm not talking to my mom on my walk home, I'm listening to music. I know I am not the only one who feels like they are in a movie or music video when they listen to music and walk around. Just me? Aight. Well, it's fun and helps you enjoy the walk to and from your house or dorm.
Enjoy your thoughts.
There are not a whole lot of moments in a busy college day that we have to just think about what is going on in your life. Walking to class is the perfect time to do just that! I took an Asian philosophy class a couple of semesters ago (hear me out on this) and the biggest takeaway from that course for me was learning to be fully present in the moment. This influenced me to see my walks to class as an opportunity rather than a burden. It is a time in your day to prepare for the day ahead or to wind down from the day you've had.
