The other night, I was sitting on my couch, face deep in a box of Volcano Wings with sauce covering my hands and chicken in my teeth, and I thought about how lucky I was. No, not lucky to be full of chicken wings, but to be completely careless of how I looked eating all that food next to my boyfriend, who was equally covered in buffalo sauce.
Now, maybe I'm too young to know this (I'm not), but I think that's exactly what love looks like.
I'm not trying to brag or anything (maybe I am a little), but I hope that everyone finds a love like I have found some time in their life. To me, love is so much more than someone to hold hands with and go on dates with. Falling in love is about having a best friend to gossip with and tell your darkest secrets to. Love is having a person who you want to be happy, no matter what. It's about talking about boogers and burping and pooping without even thinking about how gross that really is.
I don't even notice whether I'm wearing makeup or not in front of my boyfriend. I don't notice if I'm covered in zits or wearing thick glasses or a t-shirt when I'm with him. He is someone who makes me feel pretty all the time, and I am so appreciative of that.
I don't think a boyfriend should ever make you feel like you are anything less than beautiful. I don't think a boyfriend should ever make you feel like you need to be better than you already are. I don't think you should have trust issues, because there is nothing to be worried about.
So, boyfriend of mine, thank you for never making me feel insecure. thank you for letting me trust you 100 percent. Thank you for being the person I can tell all my problems to and not feel judged. Thank you for giving me good advice and being my shoulder to cry on, and thank you for making me laugh harder than I ever have before.
Thank you for showing me your favorite movies, for eating delicious desserts with me, for dancing around and for being my grocery shopping buddy. You are the best for teaching me about which celebrities are dating which, for telling me when I'm being too cranky, and for yelling at me to brush my teeth better. I love that you know what I order at every restaurant, always cuddle, teach me about baseball, and eat Taco Bell in bed with me.
Thank you, Ryan Cohn, for being the best person in my life.
That being said, I hope that everyone can find a love that looks like mine, a love where there is so much trust, understanding, giggles, and happiness. I am so glad to have experienced the love I have now, so that I know how I should be treated for the rest of my life. I hope that you all get to have a love just like this.
