I love watching sports just as much as the next person, but give me a basketball, and it probably won't ever hit the rim. Maybe you're like me, and grew up in a family where everyone played sports, and shooting a basketball was something everyone could do with their eyes closed. Or maybe you grew up in a family where everybody just liked to watch sports or coach sports, so you being athletic was something everyone just expected from you. But, much to their dismay, you were not athletic, and would much rather spectate, or just hang up those cleats and go to the mall. Either way, here are some of the challenges you've probably faced at least once in your life.
1. Your parents forced you to try out for every sports team in the area.
2. You always made that sports team when you were young, even when you sucked, because they didn't cut anybody.
3. You rode the bench.
4. Fans from the other team cheered for you when you finally scored your first basket.
5. You told your parents you hated playing sports, but they went ahead and signed you up for lessons over the summer anyway.
6. You faked injuries when you were little to get out of practice.
7. You watch your siblings play sports and you wonder why they got all the good genes.
8. You tried to convince your parents that dance was a sport so you didn't have to actually try out for something else.
9. It didn't work.
10. Your parents came to every game, and you always felt a little bad for wasting their time when you didn't get to play.
11. Your parents used the words, "You have to get more aggressive," on a daily basis.
12. You have tons of trophies from playing sports when you were little, all of which say "participation award."
13. You tried to quit the teams they forced you to try out for, but they said, "You can't quit now. You shouldn't have started it if you weren't going to finish it."
14. You looked forward to pre (or post)-game meals with your friends more than the actual games themselves.
15. Oh, and getting out of school early for far-away games was always a plus.
16. Plus, you had some killer game-day outfits for when you had to dress up at school.
17. It all worked out OK in the end, because now you're a team player, did some exercise, and made great friends in the process, which is probably what your parents wanted all along.
