What Your Favorite Corvallis Bar Says About You

Here in Corvegas, we are lucky enough to actually resemble Vegas because all the hottest college bars are located right across from campus along Monroe Avenue. What does your favorite one say about you?

Peacock

The only bar that isn't conveniently across from campus; you have nice friends that will DD for you (can you introduce me to your friends?). You are most likely a free spirit who believes that going out should not be limited to only weekends. You like flannel shirts, $2 PBR’s, and shamelessly singing country music karaoke with said PBR in hand. You are there for every single Western Wednesday or more commonly known just as Western; in turn, you always show up hungover to your Thursday morning class, which really confuses any freshmen in your class (your day will come, young ones). You have a weird love for long island iced teas — or it could just be because they are only $4. You probably took the country swing and line dancing PAC classes and enjoy making the rest of us look bad on the dance floor — or you didn't, and you just came to dance drunkenly without a care in the world (me).

Bomb’s Away

One word. Tequila. You head here on Monday’s to kick your week off right with a margarita for only a few bucks. You like the more casual scene where you can sip on a drink, grab a bite to eat, and hear some live music.

Red Fox

You're a homebody. You like to get drunk close to home. You enjoy the closeness of Red Fox and grabbing a beer in between classes or immediately after a midterm. When the sun comes out unexpectedly, this is your go-to place because of the large outside deck. You also probably like to people-watch on the deck and laugh at all the underclassman who wish they were 21.

Impulse

The hot spot Thursday through Saturday; you are a night owl who doesn't mind going out at midnight and leaving at 2 am, since that’s the only time Impulse is ever packed. You like extremely loud music and profane dancing, and you don't mind the smell of sweaty drunk twenty-something’s. You are probably a social person who loves the club-type nightlife and come here to pick up a guy or girl. You like drinks with abbreviated names and being extremely hung over. The notorious bright blue AMF drink is your favorite and you even plan the post Impulse drunchies Qdoba trip beforehand.

Clod’s

A little on the divey side, but hey, they have food and beer, and that’s all that matters. You like to keep things more low key and aren't much for dancing. You enjoy the convenience of Clod’s being the closest to Qdoba where you usually end up between 1 and 3 am, along with the rest of the drunks from Impulse and Sancho’s. Or you just go here for the burgers and pints — Regardless, you like to eat while you drink and maybe watch a sports game.

Sancho’s

If you are at Sancho’s it is probably because you are waiting for Impulse to get busier or you need to be drunk asap. You are adventurous and have no problem with small, crowded bars and paying $9 for a pink drink with an unknown amount of alcohol; thus you are someone with a YOLO kind of mentality. The best part of Sancho’s? The “Sancho’s Special.” Have one of these and you are set for the rest of the night. What happens at Sancho’s, stays at Sancho’s, right?

Cheers, and remember: Never drink and drive. Call a cab, call Safe Ride, walk, or call a friend and promise to buy them Taco Bell.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
