We Don't Need Men, And It's A Future I Dream Of

Women are subjected to generational oppression of varying degrees throughout the world. Why? Are they the weaker sex?

No. In fact, this is laughable. Women can bear children and continue to run the world- thanks, Beyonce!

Women are powerful creatures. In a country like the US, where we are allotted relatively equal rights and independence from man, women have the opportunity to explore what kind of power they have in different leadership roles. From managing households to obtaining the popular vote for the presidency, there is no logical reason that a woman needs to rely on a man for leadership. Men do not need to lead us or make decisions for us.

In recent psychology articles, women have even been cited as being more rational leaders, while still showing the ability to show compassion. Women are decisive and tough, while still being collaborative. On the other hand, men tend to be more arrogant and aggressive, as well as disregarding risk and sensitivity. From multiple statistical studies, we can look at data that shows women to be more effective leaders.

There are many women, historical and modern, that exemplify leadership. Hatshepsut was a female pharaoh who governed all of Egypt. Queen Elizabeth I refused to marry and is remembered as one of the most powerful monarchs. Dorothy Height was known at the "Godmother of the civil rights movement". Today we can look up to Angela Merkel, the de facto leader of Europe. Don't get me started on the negotiation queen, Nancy Pelosi.

In addition to this, as technology continues to advance, women do not need men for the one thing they are "essential" for – procreation.

If you think women won't eventually be able to procreate without men, you're wrong. We have sperm banks, ways to make genetic copies, and the most interesting, women being able to synthetically make a baby without a man.

Fertility specialists have created genetically modified embryos that can survive and is born female and genetically identical to the mother. There are also studies showing that it is possible for women to use sperm made from their own bone marrow to inseminate their own eggs. Sign me up for that one in about ten years!

According to one study titled, "Is there any Reproductive Future Left for Men", it is hypothesized that we may have a future without men within 5,000 generations.

From science and womankind's ability to govern ourselves, I see a future where men are rendered obsolete.

I'm sure many men will be very uncomfortable at the notion that we can survive without them. Case in point: men seemed to be triggered by the "Kill All Men" trend because it goes along with the idea that we do not need men. I have received a lot of hate for explaining this theory, we can survive without men, before.

Let me be clear that I value men as individuals. Men as a demographic, as a system, as a function of society, are targeted in this article. My dad is my hero. Some of my best guy friends help me gain better perspectives and offer amazing advice from a man's point of view. Men in the workforce, military, and more, I see you. My point is that I do not need you and that it is possible for the human race to continue as a women's race.

I dream about a society in which women are traditionally in a leadership role. As more opportunities for women to be in leadership roles opens up and scientific research continues, it could be a possibility!

So, keep saying kill all men, keep breaking up with your trash boyfriends, keep setting goals higher, keep listening to hot girl shit, and show people again and again that women can rule the world.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
