Lone wolf no more!

13 Sure-Fire Ways To Build Your Social Circle

Looking to trash that lone wolf status?

Want to become part of a pack?

The Thanksgiving season making you lonesome for a squad like the pilgrims had?

Here are some creative ways to get you connected to others on your campus in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, without the pressures of party small talk and introductions. These ideas are most relatable to the Auburn campus, but they can surely be adapted.

Feel free not to listen to me. I'm just trying to help people from my own experience. 'They' say you should speak from experience.

Read carefully. This could definitely change your life.

1. Challenge a stranger to a rolling contest down The Hill.

Sure, you'll come off with some bumps and bruises, but they say hardship fought together creates a strong bond between two people. A friendship like that won't go downhill easily.

2. Hit someone with your bike "by accident."

Then you can offer to drive them to the medical clinic to get them all patched up! There's sure to be a good conversation started in the car, and they will see that you are a kind and compassionate person.

3. Bribe someone to eat with you by buying their meal.

Hey, it works. Find someone that looks like a pretty cool lone wolf like yourself and just ask. The beginning of a friendship over two bowls of Mac and cheese. Two people that really are there for each other while the money's flowing. How could it go wrong?

4. Wear your Nacho Libre costume to random swaps and socials.

And snatch all their chip bags, shouting, "THESE ARE THE LORD"S CHEEPS!!!!" and run, at a medium pace, so others can keep up to your fast self.

Maybe the party-goers won't be happy with you, but hey, at least you'll have 'a following.' You're sure to have a least a couple people chase you. Some of them might even appreciate your creativity.

5. Sign up for bingo with the grandmas in town.

These ladies know how to play rough, and they make very honest friends. Don't underestimate their wisdom and grit. Seriously though, you should probably do this anyway.

You will have a squad like no other!

6. Buy a dog whistle and take it to the dog park.

Just make sure that no one sees it. Then the next step is to discreetly blow into it. You'll have all the dogs crowded around you in no time, and their owners are sure to follow! They'll probably be in wonderment over your amazing animal-whispering skills and are sure to ask you questions, if not ask to be your friend.

7. Gun your engine passing a policeman.

Cops are pretty friendly people that usually have a good work ethic and solid character. Maybe you could ask them how their day is going and offer to take them out for donuts and coffee sometime. You're in college, but hey, age is just a number. You'll be best friends in no time, and then you can speed through that area anytime without worrying about tickets.

8. Be Santa

Get a job playing Santa at the local mall. Everyone loves him. You'll have instant friends, like that. "BAM." Parents take tons of pics too, so you can load up your Insta with all the candids of you and your new friends.

9. Wear a onesie every day on campus.

This will show people the silly and down-to-earth part of your soul. My personal favorites are the Shark and Olaf onesies, but you can customize according to your personality. What a sure-fire way to be noticed by other people. And a great conversation starter too. Wearing it to church will make you stand out even more!

10. Sit directly in the middle of the Starbuck's stairs.

There's a little flight of stairs leading up to the main Starbucks on the Auburn campus. Sit right in the middle of this, maybe even spread out across it.

People are sure to speak to you, although... it may not be what you want to hear.

11. Sing Christmas Songs at the top of your lungs.

TIS the season!! Doing a "Blue Christmas" while doing an Elvis Presley impression sure got me a lot of friends. Make sure you walk through a crowded area like the Concourse, where people can't escape the sound of your voice very quickly. Some of them might even join along.

12. Hire Actors

Like a bunch of them. To be your friends for a week. Then everyone will admire you and will be begging for your number because you're so genuine and transparent.

13. Buy likes and followers on Instagram

It's the image you have to cultivate, not character. People love being friends with those who are popular for their appearance and photo editing abilities instead of those people who are truly loved and admired by a few close friends for the things that really count. It's pretty cheap, too.

I'm out of suggestions, but these things have all worked for me personally. You might not have the talent to pull them off, but listen, desperation is the key to success here. If you have that, you're sure to make some unforgettable and lasting friendships.

Hope everyone's Thanksgiving Break was full of friends, family, laughter, and thankfulness!

Peace out, homies.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
