The dreaded F word. We all know it, but hate hearing it. Here is comes. Freshman 15. Ugh. When leaving home to go to college, you don’t just leave your family, your room, and your “normal”. You also leave your home cooked healthy meals. College brings stress, midnight snacks, cheep fast food, and before you know it, you are beginning to regret that late night pizza you ordered. In order to best the “best you” in college, follow these 10 steps to make sure you take care of yourself and avoid those two “F words.”
1. Keep a routine while eating at college. Certain times for lunch, dinner, snacks. This keeps you from just eating at all times.
2. Try healthier options. Yes, SBISA’s cookies are to die for, but try to just indulge in them once a week. (except during finals, eat as many of those cookies as you can.
3. AVOID SNACKING. This is where you can really get yourself into trouble.
4. Allow yourself to indulge every once in awhile. College is hard, treat yo self.
5. Drink plenty of water.
6. Exercise. (No, walking to class doesn’t count.) Make sure to go to the Rec (found out that if you go at night there are hot boys FYI), run outside, anything. Stay active. This will not only help you stay healthy, but it will help yousleep better, and even do better in class.
7. Get enough sleep. Sleep in a college town thats always awake? Yes, sleep will keep you energized and motivated!
8. Get your homework done. You might be thinking, "wait, how does this help with my health?" By getting assignments done ahead of time, you prevent stress. And stress eating.
9. Join an intramural team. You'll be able to be with your friends and play sports, FUN!
10. Watch what you drink. YES, I know its college. But man do those calories add up. And they usually end with late night pizza. Try healthier mixers also (ex. diet cranberry.)
