Want to be a Good Entrepreneur? Learn from Alejandro Betancourt López

Some gifted and talented individuals have managed to see an opportunity and grasp it with both hands, turning it into a viable business proposition.

So what can we learn?

Well to learn we have to explore what the men and women who are good at the above do right. So let’s look at entrepreneur and company president Alejandro Betancourt López and see how he uses his talents to make projects a success.

Who is Alejandro Betancourt López

Alejandro Betancourt López hails from Caracas in Venezuela. He is now in his early forties and for the past two decades has held directorships in the oil business, founded travel and banking companies, and is currently a president of a leading sunglasses brand.

He has spearheaded projects that have been a success, especially in the field of energy generation.

With this in mind, let’s look at how Alejandro has managed to achieve so much.

Operating in Lucrative Markets

An often overlooked part of entrepreneurism is to work in markets that generate plenty of revenue. Alejandro has been extremely good at spotting the markets where money flows. You may have a great entrepreneurial vision but all visions are limited by the market worth. Unless of course, you are bringing something brand new to the table which is rare and difficult to do.

Alejandro forged his reputation in energy generation, fashion, banking, and travel. It’s not hard to see why he is revered as an angel investor and is a board member in an advisory capacity.

Keep Focused and Sell Your Vision

The other aspect that all good entrepreneurs have is that they are able to focus on the profit making aspects of a project and sell the vision. You may have an idea that is going to generate plenty of ROI but how do you sell it? Learning this art can be the difference between securing investment or the project falling before it has a chance to shine.

Alejandro was able to sell the idea of selling natural gas to Colombia, and other countries in Central and South America. To do this he convinced the Venezuelan government to put turbines in different regions of the country. This not only meant the country’s people had access to gas but made the lucrative exports possible.

Don’t Be Afraid to Breakout

The other aspect Alejandro is particularly good at is spotting lucrative markets and opportunities. It appears that digital currency adoption is beginning to take off in Africa. The BDK group, the holding company of the Bank of Dakar is where Alejandro was at the forefront where banking services in Africa are developing all the time.

The lesson here is to not be afraid. If you feel an opportunity is good do your diligence and if it checks out, make the leap!

Being an entrepreneur is about opportunities, diligence and focus.

Some, have spotted potential in an idea and have invested, putting their money where their mouth is and making entrepreneurial gains in the process.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from.
