I have noticed in myself and those around me lately that people have been really fearful. With the election, world issues, personal issues, and the news it is almost hard not to be afraid of tomorrow.
We live in a world that generally is shouting as us to be fearful and worried. We have bills to pay, families to feed and social media and the news showing us that we are out of control. With the weight of the world on our shoulders, it is so hard not to be afraid.
I have had this issue and wanted to share a few verses that have helped me move past the fear that has been holding me down.
I am someone who can become anxious and paralyzed in fear and I do not want that to be my legacy so these verses have really helped me.
1. Psalm 118:6
The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
2. Deuteronomy 5:5
Do not be afraid of them; the Lord your God himself will fight for you.
3. Romans 8:15
For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
4. Matthew 10:29-31
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
5. John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled and do not be afraid.
So whether you truly believe in God or not, these verses have really helped me overcome some of the fear and anxiety that has been holding me back in life. I think that we have such a hard battle in the world we live in and sometimes we just need to speak life and positivity over our situations. That is what I do with these verses, when the darkness comes I speak them out and let my spirit rest knowing that everything is not in my hands and that God is in control. I hope you find some peace in that today.
