The Ultimate Summer Bucket List

Forget about Netflix! Get outside this summer and make new memories!

The Ultimate Summer Bucket List
Olivia Lewis

It is that time of the year again: summer! All the beaches fill up with people, the shore and boardwalk businesses start up again, the pools are open to the public, and the outdoor fun officially begins! The weather is usually warmer at this point in time and the outdoor grills are fired up. Summer is a time to kick back, relax, and have no worries about school or work for a lengthy period of time.

If you're bored this summer, no worries! I have created the Ultimate Summer Bucket List. You may add it to your own bucket list as well. Make an attempt at this list anytime over the summer!!

1. Stay at the beach for more than one day

Because we all deserve to hang out by the ocean (and maybe have some cake by the ocean too).

2. Chase down an ice cream truck

We all scream for ice cream!

3. Play different variations of beer pong

No more pyramid style. Try Civil War (different colored cups for different teams), or Russian Roulette (one cup has vodka the others water), or Flip Cup!!

4. Try out new BBQ recipes

Try stuffed burgers, a new cut of steak, or try using unusual ingredients like the chefs on "Chopped."

5. Try out some boardwalk games

Instead of "Test Your Strength," try bowling -- the arcade always has a few new games and a lot of fun ones. Ride the boardwalk rides and take a taste at their restaurants.

6. Go for a run in the park

Running doesn't have to be just for exercise. It can be stress relieving and you get to enjoy the outdoors.

7. Gather the family and play a game of baseball/softball

Nothing better than spending time with the family playing outside on the field for fun (and for bragging rights).

8. Try out new dives off the diving board

Diving can be fun! Try a tucked dive or a twisting one! Do it at your local pool and pretend to be an Olympic diver.

9. Sleep in a few more hours

Because we all deserve that!!

10. Take on a new internship

It looks good on a resume, plus you can gain experience for your future career.

11. Try a hand at crafting

Knitting, drawing, painting, whatever gets your creative minds going.

12. Go for a swim in a lake

Swimming is so much fun, so take a dip at a lake near you while camping with friends or at night!!

13. Outdoor movie marathon with friends

The weather is warmer and you can make a party out of it too! You can even draw a crowd with a popular film.

14. Ride a bike with friends

Don't feel like running? Bikes are fun to ride!

15. Take a road trip

Hop in your car, take a friend, and drive to new places. You don't have to have a set destination. The world is your oyster!

16. Travel to a new country

Sometimes, the USA can be boring. Grab your passport and take on new places across the globe. Learn new cultures, eat new food and have fun.

17. Go camping

Camping can be fun! Drive to a campsite, pitch up the tent, make s'mores and have a blast with family and friends enjoying the outdoors.

18. Rent a shore house for the summer

It doesn't have to be a "Jersey Shore" type of house, but you'll be closer to the beach.

19. Go sky diving

Did you know that summer is when a lot of people participate in skydiving lessons? Try jumping out of a plane this summer!

20. Make a vegetable or flower garden in your yard

It's healthier to eat fresh grown vegetables. Plus, your house can look prettier with colorful flowers and fruits and vegetables! You can be the talk of your neighborhood.

21. Make your own ice cream

If you can't chase a truck in No. 2, try making your own no-churn recipes. Ice cream is cool and creamy and can be easy to make!!

22. Find concert tickets for cheap (especially Country).

Summertime is the best time to attend outdoor concerts. And there are websites where you can purchase tickets at a reasonable price! So buy a ticket and have the time of your life with your favorite performers!

23. Volunteer for your community

Can't find a job? Bored? Go to a nursing home and hang out with the senior citizens. Help out at a local hospital. Take care of animals at the shelters. Giving back to the community can be totally worth it.

24. Have a picnic

Head over to the park and have some amazing food with friends and play some games as well! Just don't let Yogi Bear steal your basket.

25. Have a bonfire

Hang out by the fire and enjoy the nighttime skies.

26. Read a new book

Reading can be fun! Try a new book that you have not read yet.

27. Fireworks

Watch over the nighttime sky and watch as colorful fireworks light up the sky!!

28. Go fishing

Fishing can be a relaxing time. Whether you like to fish or not, at least you can enjoy a nice boat ride. So grab your fishing rods and catch a big one!!

29. Go hiking with friends

There are trails, mountains, and reservations everywhere. Hiking can be fun and you can enjoy the view at the top!

30. Attend plays and musicals

Whether local or Broadway, summer is the best time to see amazing plays and musicals (i.e. "Hamilton").

31. Try something new

Whether it's playing a new instrument, taking on a new job, cooking, writing, etc., the summer is the best time to get things done!

Have a happy and safe summer everyone!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
