The Types Of Friends You'll Meet In College According To 'SpongeBob SquarePants'

Ah, SpongeBob, the TV show we all know and love since our early days of Nickelodeon, Kraft mac and cheese, and daily naps. Apparently, us college students have come full circle in life because we have reverted back to these ways. So, what better way to describe your collegiate best friends than with the OG best friends—SpongeBob characters.

SpongeBob: The friend who’s overly enthusiastic about everything.

This friend feels the need to join roughly 80 clubs, not to mention a part time job and taking an insanely heavy course load. This friend wants to be involved in everything they can get their hands on and they never miss out. The best part of having a SpongeBob friend is that they’re always happy to see you and meet everything and everyone with a smile on their face—despite how much they have to do.

Patrick: The friend who you have no idea how they got into college.

Everyone has that one friend who never seems to do homework, study, or even really care about class. They can always be seen binge watching Netflix or sleeping in till noon—in fact, Patricks probably create their schedules so that they can sleep until the early afternoon, and somehow be done with class by 4 o clock to get a pre-dinner nap in. Even though this friend may come across as lazy, they’re one of your best friends. They’re very supportive and never fail to remind you how much they love you, like Patrick.

Mr. Krabs: The friend who has a very tight budget.

This is your friend that can never go out or really have any fun because they have no money. They’re probably a workaholic and obsessively stick to an organized plan to budget their funds throughout the month.

Sandy: The friend who came from very far away.

It’s safe to say that Sandy is completely out of her element in her life under the sea. She has traveled far from her usual Texan culture and can get homesick at times. Similarly, this friend has come from across the country, or maybe even the world. The Sandy in your life is probably still adjusting to this new way of life, even if it’s been years since moving to college.

Squidward: The pessimistic friend who is so over school.

Squidward isn’t very enthralled with life in Bikini Bottom and can usually be seen with an aura of negativity. The Squidward college friend is probably beyond tired of school. They seem to be in a constant state of fatigue and annoyance because they’re ready to graduate and move on to bigger and better things outside of the Krusty Krab (or college). Despite their gloomy disposition, you can’t help but love them.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
