“It looked like the world was covered in a cobbler crust of brown sugar and cinnamon.”- Sarah Addison Allen
It's that time of year again folks! Schools are beginning to hit full swing, bringing an end to the timeless summer days. Bittersweet, but it also signals the start of the crisp season of Fall! There are so many things I'm thankful for this Fall, and I'm more than willing to share each one with you!
1. The fresh start.
January tends to be the time when people break out their New Year Resolutions, but to me, Fall always feels like a new beginning. Maybe it has to do with the start of a new school year, with the leaves turning, the temperature changing, and summer coming to an end, but there's just something so special about jumping into Fall.
2. The crisp and cool weather.
As the temperature starts to dip, this time of year brings about the layering of clothes and the retiring of summer gear. I'm a huge fan of the fact that my thighs won't be sticking to the plastic chairs I sit on anymore, and I won't be constantly sweating; but vice versa, I also won't be freezing.
3. Leaves changing color.
The so basic green leaves change to the most beautiful and magical hues of yellow, red, orange, and brown. I simply enjoy riding down the street and seeing the trees on either side of me, swaying in the wind with their different colors.
4. Fall fashion.
This time of year, in my opinion, has the best looks. Fall is characterized by flannels, sweaters, jeans, scarves, and boots; and I cannot tell you how much I love that. You can wear layers without having to wear a big, bulky coat yet. It's all so comfy and cozy, not to mention cute!
5. Harvest activities.
Corn mazes, bobbing for apples, pumpkin picking, and hay rides galore! Timeless, fun activities for families to do together, that always bring a smile.
6. Halloween.
A wonderful holiday on the 31st of October, filled with dressing up as something other than yourself for a night and having fun with your friends and family. Kids go trick-or-treating, and visit Haunted Houses, and relish in the fact that it's finally acceptable to watch Halloweentown, Twitches, and Hocus Pocus all day every day.
7. Fall scents.
Bath and Body Works comes out with a fall line every year, with scents like Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin, Leaves, Pumpkin Cupcake, Pumpkin Berry Crumble, Coconut Pumpkin Latte, Cedar and Sage, Cherry Woods, and more. Comes in bath soaps, lotions, hand sanitizers, and most importantly, candles.
8. Fall flavors.
Cinnamon, Pumpkin, Vanilla, and Apple are just a few popular flavors during this season. Hot apple cider and apple cider donuts can be found almost anywhere. Pumpkin spice latte is also a drink popular with people of all ages, I think Starbucks makes its biggest profits during this season!
9. Bonfires.
A fun night at a friend's house to sit around a campfire, to tell stories and laugh. With fire comes one word: S'mores, and who doesn't love S'mores?
10. Friday night football games.
Going to support your school's team and marching band, decked out in those bright colors, and showing nothing but spirit alongside your friends, is always a good time. Pair it with a hot chocolate in hand, and you've got the best Friday night ahead of you!
11. Thanksgiving.
As we creep into the month of November, this holiday tends to be the topic of most conversations. Sitting around the table with your family, and giving thanks keeps us gracious for all we are given. Not to mention all of the scrumptious food, such as turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and mashed potatoes. The main event, however, remains in the sheer notion of pie. Apple pie, pumpkin pie, cherry pie, blueberry pie...
All in all, that's just ten reasons as to why I just adore the season of Fall! There's just something so special about this time of year.
