10 Truths, Weird But True, You Know When You Have Siblings

"Why are you so annoying... Hey, wanna hang out?"

Siblings are a weird concept because you could be fighting one moment with them, but then the next moment you're sending them a funny tweet. Siblings are fun though because there are many things in your life I feel like you couldn't do without them. From just hanging around to them annoying you, and finally to having a sing-off while watching TV.

Siblings are just weird, what can I say?

1. Someone will always be getting made fun of.

It doesn't matter what it's about or what time of day it is someone is always going to get made fun of. My siblings find anything to make fun of me for. Occasionally, I'll say a couple of words wrong or they sound funny and then for the rest of the day my siblings won't stop making fun of me for it.

2. They will always remember your embarrassing moments.

You think they won't remember if you've forgotten that embarrassing moment, but really they remember everything. I thought I could forget all my embarrassing moments, including every time I was awkward talking to adults, but my siblings never seem to forget ALL of those moments and then I just get embarrassed all over again.

3. You will always have someone to hang out with.

It's always nice that you have someone to hang out with you right when you wake up or when you don't really feel like doing anything, but also do. Anytime all my friends are busy I know I won't be hanging out alone because I have my brother and sister home to watch a movie with.

4. You never have to face anything alone.

This can be for anything, like big moments in your life or just silly moments. My brother and sister have faced a lot of things with me, one including going neighborhood gatherings and us not really knowing anyone so we stick together in one spot for the whole night.

5. Someone will always be there to give you good advice.

Having siblings is nice for advice giving because they're always in the know on things. Also, they can just give you advice through daily life and through your next stages in life. I remember when I was going to High School and my sister was giving me all the advice on what to wear and what to expect for the first day. Then before I moved up to UT both my brother and sister were telling me what to expect from college.

6. You can have mini dance parties.

I mean there's no point in going to an actual club when your kitchen can become one. There have been times when my sister will just put a song on and within minutes our kitchen will become one big dance party.

7. Someone will always be there to laugh with you.

Looking to share that funny vine or tweet with someone, it's lucky you have a sibling to share that humor with. There will be times when my siblings and I will all be in the same room, but someone will have something funny to show, then we all just sit there laughing nonstop.

8. Although someone will always be there to laugh at you.

Anytime you do someone embarrassing or even say something funny you will probably hear your siblings laughing at you from a distance, through text, or right there next to you. One day while walking on campus I slipped in mud (yeah not the best day) and I texted my brother and sister, sure they asked if I was okay, but then they couldn't stop laughing. They also continue to bring it up any chance they get.

9. You have people to collaborate with when it comes to getting your parents gifts.

It's pretty nice when you have more than your brain thinking of what to get your parents for Holidays. My siblings and I always work together when it comes to getting our parents gifts. Even though sometimes it's one person thinking of the gift, one person buying the gift, and then the other person asking what we got them the day before.

10. They really are your best friends.

There's no denying it, no matter how much they annoy you or give you a hard time about things. Yeah my siblings bug me nonstop and they make fun of me A LOT, but they are my best friends and always will be. They're just the best friends you can tell to go away because they're annoying and not have to face the consequences of saying something mean.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
